Listen I get it but you CANNOT use "sensory nightmare" as an excuse to avoid essential things. You HAVE to find a way to make it work, such as finding effective alternatives. But you can't just avoid it.

You gotta read and watch some old books and films that aren’t 100% modern politically correct. I’m not saying you should agree with everything in them but you need to learn where genres came from to understand what those genres are doing today and where media deconstructing old tropes is coming from.

and this shit's important. Media from the past tells us how people from the past acted and thought and behaved.

Not to mention how many of the old stories were what we would consider "progressive for that time", but have been somehow forgotten and/or eraced from the literally classics canon. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is the one that we happen to remember, but I promise you, there is an entire stack of books from that time period and earlier that are either dealing with racism, were written by an author who wasn't white, or feature prominent characters of colour in a setting that is not directl related to racism as a subject.
