I have a story that I want to cultivate but don’t know if I should. You see, it’s inspired by The Little Mermaid (the original tale where the mermaid dies) and Yandere Simulator.

What you see here in both pictures is my mermaid OC for the story - she and her family became humans after making a deal with the sea witch (who is like a bridge that connects the human world and the ocean world, in this version, she’s not evil but morally gray), and since merfolk live longer (correct me if I’m wrong) than humans, they had time to adjust to the human lifestyle. Compared to the rest of her family, this mermaid wasn’t able to develop a “human” voice for herself (and her real voice is ugly and croaky), so she stays silent, but because of her intelligence, wit, excellent proficiency, outstanding talent for writing (and texting 😜) and even her good looks, she is a top student in her school. There, she begins to have a crush on a prince (yes, a prince studying alongside commoners, because a good monarch must understand his people well) but then finds out that she doesn’t fit the criteria for his perfect bride, and plus, he gets along with other girls who are beneath her in terms of academics. Once she begins to show (nonverbal) signs that she is in love, the prince’s classmates and friends become suspicious of her, so they must investigate her life, activities, and past in order to protect their beloved classmate.

What do you think? What kind of revision do you think it needs? What should I name my OC? How can I make it inspired by both The Little Mermaid and Yandere Simulator without making it too obvious?
