Wildfire
It's humid tonight. Waves of mist break through the surrounding treeline; Lurking across the almond shaped clearing like a rising tide overtaking untouched land. A prudent deity stealing away helios' residual heat. Droplets stipple the moisture starved pasture. Translucent phalanxes standing atop chapped blades of grass Fogged over by acrid vapors born from unkempt ritual.
Gusts of wind move in whirlpools around a roaring fire pit. Insatiable flames tear away at blackening wooden sacrifices Revealing networks of veins huddled beneath tempered bulwarks. The red beast plunges through broken defenses And siphons new breaths from suffocated gasps. Violent crimson molts out of what was once a warm glow. It shakes heartily with silent cackles Underscored by popping reminiscent of snapping bones.
Screeching gales are ripped from entrenched routines. They collapse like a sinkhole into scorching arms. Used as propellers to elevate the spiraling pillar, The nightmare leaps from its prison Exploding with a roar of displaced air. Its invasion begins.
Hell's rivulets torch paths to the edge of the field. Pulsing towards an ocean of oak cemented around the perimeter. Trees tremble and curse their roots. Sacred vigils reduced to hopeless prey; Forced to watch a viper's den make its approach.
The first fingertips reach their destination, Met with biting terror similar to ghostly limbs tugging at a solitary soul. Tremors shake off tenants desperately clinging onto flailing branches. Dooming them to a dragged out freefall into snapping maws. Fire coils around the base of its first victims; Severing century old contracts between dirt and wood Vice grips climb to the sky, probing for weak points While the rest of the woodlands watches with braced anticipation. Fangs unfold the moment vulnerabilities are detected. Successive incisions ignite a blood letting frenzy. All the forest screams towards the sky, Shouting pleas into the void for salvation. But nothing acknowledges their prayers. The stars will sit in silence and watch events transpire below.
