The heavy iron gates of the mountain fortress had always been a barrier against the outside world, but they could not stop the biological tide of a King’s distress. Long before the heavy thud of running boots could be heard echoing up the trail, the air inside the courtyard shifted violently.
The scent of freshly fallen rain arrived first, but it was no longer the clean, crisp aroma the castle was used to. It came rolling over the stone walls like a suffocating, shattered tempest, thick with a frantic, blinding panic and the unmistakable, metallic undertone of an Alpha’s life force bleeding out.
Inside the main barracks, Chyna stopped dead in her tracks, her hand freezing on the leather strap of her armor. Her sharp Alpha instincts screamed a terrifying, immediate warning. Beside her, Batista dropped his training axe, his massive frame locking up as his own scent flared defensively. They didn't need a scout to tell them what was happening. Their King was in mortal danger.
"Move!" Chyna roared, and together with Batista, they sprinted out of the barracks, throwing the heavy wooden doors open as they rushed into the cobblestone courtyard.
Down in the lower stalls, Sean had been helping Mankind organize fresh hay when the violent wave of Hunter's panicked pheromones slammed into the stables, immediately followed by the sharp, terrifying scent of Shawn's spilled roses. The young valet completely froze, a wave of absolute, crippling panic washing through his dandelion scent as his hands began to tremble. For a terrifying few seconds, his mind flashed back to the day his childhood village was sacked. But as he caught the distant sound of Hunter's ragged breathing, Sean bit his lip, forced his fear down, and scrambled out of the barn, sprinting across the stones to find Rey Mysterio.
When King Hunter finally breached the courtyard gates, the sight sent a shockwave of horror through the gathered guards.
The Barbarian King was drenched in crimson, his long blonde hair matted with sweat and dirt. He was breathing in agonizing, shallow gasps, his massive arms locked in a fierce, iron-grip around Prince Shawn’s frame, holding the smaller blond securely against his chest as if the entire world would collapse if he let go. Shawn was pale, his black riding pants soaked through with blood from the jagged sword gash on his calf, but he was completely conscious, his hands desperately clutching Hunter's broad shoulders to try and keep the King steady.
"Hunter! Stop running! Put me down!" Shawn pleaded, his voice cracking with a desperate, heavy worry as he felt the King's steps begin to falter.
"Hunter!" Chyna screamed, sprinting across the cobblestones alongside Batista, Randy Orton, and a wide-eyed Scott Hall.
The moment Hunter reached the center of the courtyard, the adrenaline that had fueled his frantic sprint up the mountain trail completely evaporated. The severe loss of blood from the deep, gaping wound on his left arm and the jagged slice across his chest finally caught up to him. His vision blurred, his massive knees buckling beneath his weight.
With a low, pained grunt, the King of Kings collapsed hard onto the stone floor, his strength giving out entirely. Yet, even as his consciousness began to slip away, his protective instincts remained unyielding; he twisted his body as he fell, absorbing the impact against the stones himself to ensure Shawn wouldn't be harmed, his bleeding arms still wrapped tightly around the prince in a fierce embrace.
"Hunter!" Shawn cried out, tumbling out of the King's loosened grip, his injured leg flaring with agony as he frantically crawled right back over to the fallen Alpha's side. Shawn’s hands flew to Hunter’s face, his heart hammering in pure terror as he saw the King's green eyes rolling back. "Hunter, look at me! Keep your eyes open, you idiot! Stay with me!"
"Get the stretchers! Now!" Batista bellowed, his voice echoing like thunder across the courtyard as he and Randy Orton rushed forward, carefully lifting the massive, unconscious King off the stones.
Chyna was instantly at Shawn's side, her powerful arms gently but firmly lifting the southern prince to his feet, ensuring he didn't put any weight on his bleeding calf. Scott Hall hovered just behind them, his usual cínico smirk completely gone, his dark eyes tight with a lethal, quiet gravity as his sea breeze scent turned sharp with anxiety.
Within seconds, the courtyard was a blur of frantic motion as the elite guards carried both the unconscious King and the fiercely protesting prince toward the warm, lavender-scented sanctuary of the medical wing. The temporary peace of the mountains had officially bled out, and the true cost of their alliance was starting to be written in blood.
The moment the heavy wooden doors of the medical wing burst open, the chaotic vortex of blood and panic was met by a sharp, unyielding command.
Rey Mysterio didn't flinch at the sight of his bleeding, unconscious King or the frantically screaming southern prince. He stepped into the center of the room, and his delicate poppy scent immediately flared, not with submissive fear, but with a deep, grounding, and crystalline authority that acted like a soothing balm against the room's suffocating tension. In an instant, the gentle doctor transformed into an absolute general.
"Put the King on the primary table! Shawn, onto the empty cot right now!" Rey commanded, his voice ringing with absolute, military precision. He turned his sharp gaze onto the towering mountain elite who were crowding the space. "Chyna, Batista, Randy out of my way! Stand against the back wall and do not move unless I tell you to! Scott, get your ass over by Kevin's bed, you're taking up too much room!"
The sheer force of Rey's authority left the dangerous warriors entirely stunned. Randy Orton opened his mouth to snap a retort, but a single, lethal glare from Chyna made him shut it as she, Batista, and the younger Alpha obediently retreated to the corner of the room. Scott Hall didn't say a word, quickly squeezing his tall frame into the narrow space right beside Kevin Nash’s elevated cot, his dark eyes fixed tightly on the unfolding madness.
"Eddie! Sean! With me, right now!" Rey yelled, snapping his fingers as he tore away the ruined leather guards from Hunter's bleeding arm. "Eddie, I need a fresh basin of clean, boiling water and the sharp iron shears! Sean, grab the heavy linen bandages, the alcohol spirits, and heat the tips of three sewing needles over the hearth until they are white-hot! Then start crushing the dried comfrey and poppy roots into a fine paste for the numbing poultice! Move, move, move!"
The medical wing became a blur of frantic, coordinated motion. Eddie and Sean tore across the room, executing Rey's commands with flawless speed. But in the center of the storm, Shawn refused to stay anchored to his cot. Ignoring the agonizing, hot flare of pain in his bleeding calf, the prince dragged himself onto the edge of Hunter's stone table, his hands frantically gripping the King's massive, limp shoulders.
"You absolute idiot, wake up!" Shawn screamed, his voice breaking as a wave of pure, terrified rose scent flooded the room. He shook Hunter’s massive frame, tears finally spilling over his bruised cheeks as he looked at the gaping, bloody wound on the Alpha's arm. "You had to be so incredibly stubborn, didn't you?! You couldn't just lie down, you couldn't just let me take care of you on the trail! Open your green eyes, Hunter! Wake up!"
Hunter remained completely still, his pale face framed by his damp blonde beard, his heavy chest rising and falling in shallow, agonizing rhythm.
"Shawn, you need to let him go! I can't stitch his arm if you're pinning him down!" Rey shouted, frantically trying to clear the space as he grabbed his medical thread. "Eddie! Sean! Get the prince back onto his bed!"
Eddie Guerrero rushed forward, his muscular arms wrapping around Shawn’s torso from behind, while Sean gently but firmly grabbed the prince's wrists. Together, they had to physically drag a thrashing, fiercely fighting Shawn away from the unconscious King.
"Let me go! He's bleeding out because of me, let me go!" Shawn fought them, his nails digging into Eddie's arms until his strength finally wavered, his injured leg giving out entirely. Eddie carefully lifted him and placed him onto the adjacent cot, where Sean immediately pinned his shoulders down, his sweet dandelion scent flaring with a desperate, crying plea to keep his prince calm.
"Please, Shawn, please stay still," Sean whispered, his eyes glassy as he held him down. "Rey is going to save him. He's the best we have. Just let him work."
From the dark corner of the room, the gathered Alphas watched the entire, raw scene unfold in complete, breathless silence. Batista’s jaw was clenched tight, Randy Orton was staring with a newfound, profound shock at the southern prince, and Chyna’s eyes softened with a heavy, deeply emotional layer of respect.
Beside Kevin's bed, Scott Hall leaned his shoulder against the stone pillar, his usual smirk completely buried under a heavy grimace. He flicked his eyes down toward Kevin Nash. The 7-foot knight was sitting up as much as his bad knee would allow, his large hands gripping the edges of his mattress so hard his knuckles were entirely white. Kevin’s cedar wood scent was thick with a protective, silent agony for his prince, but as he looked at Hunter’s pale face, his gaze held no more animosity, only the grim respect of one warrior watching another who had nearly died to protect what mattered most.
Shawn finally stopped thrashing. The sheer weight of his exhaustion came crashing down like a collapsed wall now that the adrenaline was rapidly draining from his veins. He slumped back onto the mattress, his body trembling, but his deep blue eyes never stopped tracking Hunter’s pale face while Rey expertly worked on their wounds, his medical needle pulling tight stitches through the King's torn flesh.
Shawn’s own vision was blurring, darkness creeping into the edges of his consciousness, but before the exhaustion could drag him under completely, he forced his heavy eyelids open. He looked directly at Sean, his voice a raspy, quiet whisper. "Sean... the men by the lake... they were the same ones. The exact same ones from the mountain pass."
Shawn then dragged his eyes over to the dark corner of the room, locking his gaze onto the legendary female Alpha. "Chyna... some of them... some were still breathing when we left."
Chyna’s expression instantly turned predatory, her sharp Alpha scent flaring with a lethal, icy readiness. She didn't hesitate for a single second. She snapped her head toward the two elite warriors standing beside her. "Batista. Randy. Take a scouting party and ride down to the lake right now. Follow the trail of Hunter's blood to find the clearing. If any of those western bastards are still sucking air, bind their wounds and drag them back here in chains. I want answers."
"On it," Batista growled, his massive frame shifting into motion as he and a grim-faced Randy Orton immediately bolted out of the medical wing, their heavy boots slamming against the stones as they headed for the stables.
With the room slightly cleared, the heavy, suffocating silence returned, broken only by the crackle of the hearth and Hunter's shallow breathing. Shawn’s eyes finally closed, his head dropping sideways as unconsciousness claimed him.
While the prince and the king slept, a grim, hushed war council began around Kevin Nash’s cot. Chyna stepped out of the shadows, joining Scott Hall and a visibly shaken Sean at the foot of the bed. The atmosphere was incredibly tense, their scents a heavy, clashing mix of cedar wood, sea breeze, and iron.
"Alright, mister knight," Chyna began, her deep voice dropping to a low, quiet register as she crossed her arms. "Your prince just confirmed this wasn't a random bandit raid. This is a targeted hunt. Who the hell is trying to start a war on our ridges?"
Kevin Nash let out a long, heavy sigh, his cedar wood scent flaring with a deep, grim seriousness as he looked up at the mountain Alpha. Having held back his suspicions for days to protect Shawn's state of mind, he knew he couldn't afford to keep the secrets anymore. The enemy was inside their perimeter.
"It's not the barbarians, and it's not a common mercenary guild," Kevin revealed, his voice a low rumble. "Those weapons, that coordination... it’s professional western steel. Me and Shawn think our court leaked the route during the first attack. I don't think King Vincent signed the warrant. But the vipers whispering in his ear? That's a different story. I'd bet my blade this has Pat Patterson’s greasy fingerprints all over it, likely working alongside Gerald Brisco. Those two betas probably have been plotting with Lord Eric Bischoff for months. They want Shawn dead or captured to break the treaty, forcing our kingdoms into a war once again."
Scott Hall let out a low whistle, casually spinning his toothpick between his lips, his dark eyes narrowing. "Bischoff... that greedy western lord has been eyeing our southern borders for years. If someone high in your court is feeding him internal royal coordinates, they can bypass our scouts completely."
"Which means the lake ambush won't be the last," Chyna noted grimly, her jaw tightening. "They are testing our defenses. We need to lock down the fortress gates and double the mountain patrols. If Bischoff thinks he can slide his snakes into my home while the King is down, he’s going to find out how we bury traitors."
Hours later, the deep crimson hues of sundown had faded into a quiet, starless mountain night.
Shawn woke up with a sharp, burning gasp as the numbing poultice on his calf began to wear off. He blinked against the dim torchlight, his rose scent turning faint and soft. The room was mostly quiet now; Kevin Nash was asleep on his cot, and the guards had retired to enforce the new perimeter.
Rey Mysterio stepped out from the shadows, carrying a small cup of water. He immediately noticed Shawn trying to swing his good leg off the mattress.
"Absolutely not, Prince Shawn," Rey intervened gently but firmly, pressing a hand against Shawn’s shoulder to keep him anchored. "I just put twelve silk stitches into your calf. If you start walking around this stone floor, the wounds will rip open and you’ll bleed right through my linens. You are on strict bed rest."
Shawn looked at the short doctor, his blue eyes wide with a desperate, silent plea, before shifting his gaze to the large stone table just a few feet away. Hunter was still unconscious, his massive chest heavily wrapped in white bandages, his stitched left arm resting on a fur pillow. His rain scent was calm now, a peaceful, quiet drizzle that filled the small space between their beds.
"Please, Rey," Shawn whispered, his voice cracking with a sudden, soft vulnerability. "Just... just let me sit next to him. I can't stay over here. Please."
Rey stared at the prince for a long beat, analyzing the fierce, protective anxiety written all over Shawn’s features. Realizing that keeping the stubborn McMahon away from the King would only cause his pheromones to spike with more stress, the gentle doctor let out a soft sigh and nodded.
"Fine. But you don't step on that leg," Rey commanded. He walked over, grabbed a heavy wooden chair, and pulled it right up against the edge of Hunter's medical table. Eddie Guerrero carefully assisted, lifting Shawn’s slender frame and setting him gently onto the chair, ensuring his bandaged calf remained elevated on a small stool.
Once he was close enough, the lingering ice around Shawn's heart completely dissolved. He leaned forward, his hands trembling slightly as he reached out. He didn't care about royal protocols, he didn't care about his southern pride, and he didn't care about how angry he had been the day before.
Shawn slowly lowered his head, resting his cheek securely against the top of Hunter's massive, uninjured right arm. He closed his eyes, breathing in the deep, comforting aroma of freshly fallen rain that rolled off the Alpha's skin.
"You idiot," Shawn murmured into the dark fur blankets, his hand gently tangling with Hunter's thick fingers. "You better wake up tomorrow. We still have a war to fight, and I am not letting you have the last word."
In the quiet room, the rain and the roses finally stopped fighting, blending into a sweet, fiercely protective bond in the dark.

Shawn had just finished his induction speech for Hunter. He was extremely proud of his husband for finally getting his solo induction to the Hall of Fame, but a part of him was quite sad about the fact that they still had to keep their relationship a secret. One would think that after so many years of hiding it, it would’ve gotten easier, but it was quite the opposite.
Although society grew more accepting of same sex couples, management wouldn’t allow them to go public with their relationship. First it was Vince and his insistence in maintaining ‘kayfabe’, he constantly told them it would confuse the viewers because Hunter had an on screen relationship with Steph. Now it was the board, especially TKO, who claimed that it would alienate part of their viewers, and therefore it would be bad for business.
So Shawn wrote his speech and changed every reference to his and Hunter’s real relationship into friendship, the words “husband” and “lover” were changed to “best friend”. Their true love for each other masked into nothing more than a friendship, a powerful one, sure, but still not the truth.
When Hunter’s music hit Shawn was overcome with a mix of emotions, still as he heard the first few cords of the song he felt relief. Hunter’s theme was probably the one song you never wanted to hear while you were standing at a WWE stage, but for Shawn it had always represented something else, it meant that the love of his life was there, that his safety net was right below him in case he fell. Even when they were supposed to hate each other, Shawn couldn’t help but swell with happiness as the song played.
As the final chords of his theme music faded, Hunter didn't walk straight to the podium. Instead, he stopped right in front of Shawn. The crowd was already cheering, expecting the usual DX antics, the playful jokes they had shared for decades.
Hunter reached out, his large hand cupping the back of Shawn’s neck, his thumb brushing against Shawn's hairline just beneath his cowboy hat. Shawn looked up, expecting a quick, performative peck on the cheek or lips, the kind they used to tease the crowd with to get a reaction.
But when Hunter leaned in, it wasn’t a joke. It wasn't a quick play for the cameras.
Hunter pressed his lips firmly against Shawn’s, deep and lingering, holding him in place with a possessive intensity that made Shawn’s breath catch in his throat. It lasted too long to be a DX stunt. The arena's cheers faltered for a second, replaced by a wave of confused, sudden whispers as the camera caught every detail of the raw emotion on their faces.
When Hunter finally pulled back, his eyes were dark with a lifetime of unspoken promises. He didn't let go of Shawn's neck right away.
He then walked to the podium speaking right into the microphone, while Shawn was still standing in the same place in shock. Hunter’s voice boomed through the entire room as he spoke.
"For thirty years, you all watched us out here. You laughed when we pushed the boundaries, you cheered when we kissed on screen, and you thought it was just an act. You thought it was DX being controversial," Hunter said, his voice steady, sending a shockwave through the corporate executives watching backstage.
He looked at Shawn, whose eyes were wide with a mix of terror and overwhelming love.
"But tonight, I want to clear something up," Hunter continued, a proud, defiant smile touching his lips. "Those kisses were never a joke. They were never a storyline. They were the only moments in this ring where I was allowed to show the world the truth. Every single one of them was real. And it’s time everyone knows that the man standing in front of me isn’t just my best friend. He is my husband."
Shawn practically fled the stage, leaving Hunter on stage to finish the rest of his speech. His boots clicked loudly against the concrete floor of the hotel corridors, his mind spinning so fast he could barely breathe. He ignored the stunned stares of the production crew and the referees. He needed to be in a closed room. Now.
The moment he slammed the door of Hunter's private dressing room behind him, the silence hit him like a wall.
Shawn tore off his cowboy hat, tossing it onto the leather couch, and immediately began pacing from one side of the room to the other. His heart was hammering against his ribs. He was shocked. He was furious. But underneath the terror, a terrifying wave of relief was trying to break through, and that only made him more anxious.
Twenty minutes later, the heavy electronic lock clicked. Hunter walked in. He looked completely unbothered, loosening his silk tie with one hand while closing the door with the other.
"Are you out of your mind?!" Shawn exploded before Hunter could even take a full step into the room. He stopped his pacing, pointing an accusing finger at his husband. "What the hell was that, Hunter? What did you just do out there?!"
Hunter didn't answer right away. He just leaned his large frame against the door, a faint, incredibly soft smile playing on his lips as he watched Shawn.
"Don't you look at me like that!" Shawn snapped, his voice cracking slightly with pure adrenaline. "TKO is going to lose their minds! They explicitly told us no. The board is going to have your head on a spike by tomorrow morning! We could get fired, Hunter! Do you understand that? Fired! Blacklisted from the very company we helped build! They can erase us from history if they want to!"
Shawn started pacing again, his hands moving wildly as he laid out every single nightmare scenario. "And you didn't even tell me! For twenty-five years we protect this, we protect us, and you just blow it all up on a whim? You should’ve talked to me! You should’ve asked me if I was ready to face the fallout of…"
"Shawn."
Hunter’s deep voice cut through the room. He didn't sound angry or defensive; he sounded completely at peace.
He crossed the room with slow, deliberate steps, closing the distance between them. Shawn stopped talking, his chest heaving as he stared up at his husband, his eyes wide and defensive. Hunter didn't say another word. He simply reached out, his large, warm hands coming up to cradle Shawn's face, his thumbs wiping away a stray tear Shawn hadn't even realized had fallen.
"Let them try to erase us," Hunter whispered, his smile widening just a fraction as he looked down at the love of his life. "Let's see them try to run a WrestleMania without us."
Hunter didn’t give him a chance to overthink. He leaned down and captured Shawn’s lips in a kiss so deep, fierce, and dripping with raw passion that all the corporate anxiety in Shawn’s mind instantly evaporated. Shawn groaned into the kiss, his hands instinctively flying to Hunter’s shoulders, gripping the expensive fabric of his suit jacket as he kissed his husband back with everything he had.
Shawn tried to look stern when they finally broke apart for air, their foreheads rested against each other, both breathing heavily, but his eyes were dark with desire.
"I’m still angry at you," Shawn whispered, his voice trembling slightly, trying to hold onto his remaining defenses.
Hunter’s lips twitched into a small, knowing smile, his hands sliding down to Shawn's waist. "Of course you are, sweetheart."
Shawn pulled back, taking Hunter by the hand and leading him over to the leather couch. He pushed Hunter down onto the cushions, stepping back just enough to strip off his own vest and loosen his shirt.
"Strip!" Shawn said, his voice sharp and commanding. Hunter did as his husband wished, taking off his shirt and laying bare on the couch, with a relaxed pose, his arms crossed behind his head.
Shawn got on top of him, moving with deliberate slowness, his actions designed to keep Hunter suspended in a state of restless anticipation. Every touch was light, every movement calculated to maintain his position of power. He followed the lines of Hunter's chest with a focused intensity, relishing the way he could make the usually composed man lose his breath.
Shawn kissed his husband's right peck, then took his nipple into his mouth, sucking lightly causing Hunter to groan. Then he moved to his left peck, once again Shawn kissed it, very careful not to disturb the pacemaker, whispering "Thank you, for keeping him safe" to the machine.
Hunter’s chest heaved, his heart hammering right beneath the skin Shawn had just revered, entirely undone by the depth of his husband’s love. But Shawn wasn't done torturing him yet.
Shawn smirked, sliding his body down along Hunter's length, pushing Hunter's trousers down to fully expose him. Hunter’s hips twitched upward in anticipation, but Shawn placed a firm, warning hand on his thigh.
"Don't move," Shawn whispered against his skin. "You just lay there."
Shawn lowered his head, finally taking him into his mouth. He started with agonizing slowness, taking in just the tip, swirling his tongue around the head until Hunter let out a ragged, low growl. Shawn looked up through his lashes, his eyes locked onto his husband’s face, enjoying every twitch of Hunter's jaw.
He didn't take him all at once. Instead, Shawn used a devastating combination of deep, wet strokes followed by sudden, cruel withdrawals. He would slide down, letting Hunter feel the warm contrast of his throat, but just as Hunter’s hips began to instinctively lift from the couch to find a rhythm, Shawn would pull completely away. He would leave Hunter glistening and cold in the dressing room air, smirking as he trailed a wet finger down the length instead.
The silence in the room was heavy, broken only by the wet, rhythmic sounds of Shawn’s mouth and the ragged edge of Hunter’s breathing. Shawn hummed against him, the vibration sending a jolt straight to Hunter’s hips. He sucked with a firm, relentless pressure, his hand wrapping around the base to restrict him, controlling the pace so perfectly that Hunter was completely off-balance, suspended on a knife-edge of pure frustration.
Hunter’s knuckles turned white as his large hands gripped the leather edges of the couch, his entire body tense, trembling from the prolonged anticipation. He wanted to thrust, he wanted to take what he needed, but every time his muscles flexed, Shawn would stop entirely, staring him down with that cold, challenging gaze until Hunter forced his hips back down.
Knowing he had pushed Hunter to the absolute brink, Shawn took him deep one last time, swirling his tongue aggressively before pulling away with a soft, deliberate pop. He crawled back up Hunter’s body, leaning in for a wet, breathless kiss to allow Hunter to taste himself on Shawn’s lips.
That was the opening Hunter had been waiting for. Driven past his limit by the relentless teasing, Hunter's restraint completely shattered.
With a sudden, fluid burst of movement, Hunter regained the initiative. He reached out, his massive hands locking around Shawn's waist, and in one agile motion, he flipped them over on the couch.
The transition from control to raw urgency was instantaneous. Hunter didn't waste time trying to match Shawn’s slow, calculated torture; he didn't have the luxury of patience anymore. Their bodies weren't thirty anymore, they were older, weathered by decades of physical abuse in the ring, their skin bearing the permanent maps of scars, surgeries, and time. They didn’t have the stamina for hours of endless rounds, and they both knew it.
Hunter immediately hooked Shawn’s knees, pulling his pants off and pushing his legs wide over the leather armrest of the couch.
"Look at you," Hunter growled, his voice thick and rough as his eyes scanned Shawn's body. Shawn’s abs were still remarkably defined, a testament to his strict discipline, but his skin was softer now, beautifully mature, and dusted with silver-flecked body hair. Hunter leaned down, the rough texture of his thick beard scraping against Shawn’s skin, making Shawn shiver. "Fucking beautiful. You’re still the most beautiful thing in this entire industry, Shawn. My perfect husband."
"Hunter, please..." Shawn gasped, his fingers immediately clawing into the muscles of Hunter’s back. The adrenaline from his backstage lecture was completely gone, replaced by a desperate, heavy ache between his thighs. "Don't tease me. Just... I need you."
"I've got you, sweetheart. I've always got you," Hunter murmured, quickly holding Shawn’s hand, his thumb rubbing over the gold wedding band on Shawn's finger before he quickly grabbed a bottle of lube from the dressing room drawer. He prepped them both with frantic, wet strokes, his breath hot against Shawn’s neck. He wasn't gentle, but he was incredibly thorough, his large fingers stretching Shawn open just enough to ensure he wouldn't hurt him.
Shawn arched his back, a breathless sob escaping his lips as he felt the heavy weight of Hunter’s massive frame settling fully between his thighs. He looked up, his vision slightly blurred, taking in the sight of his husband, the broader waist, the heavy chest, the silver in his beard, and those dark, fiercely possessive eyes that had looked at him the same way for thirty years.
"Take it, Shawn. Open up for me, baby," Hunter whispered, a heavy command wrapped in pure worship.
With one deliberate, powerful thrust, Hunter buried himself inside his husband.
Shawn’s eyes rolled back as a loud, undone cry ripped from his throat, his hands tightly gripping Hunter’s broad shoulders. The sheer fullness of it was overwhelming, sometimes Shawn felt Hunter had gotten bigger with age, girthier.
Hunter let out a deep, guttural groan, freezing for a second as his muscles clenched, absorbing the intense, tight heat of Shawn wrapping around him.
"God, you feel so good," Hunter panted, his hips beginning a heavy, punishingly deep rhythm. Each stroke was deliberate, a brutal mix of age-defying strength and desperate affection. "You grip me so perfectly. Still mine. Every single bit of you is mine, and now the whole world knows it."
Shawn couldn't even form words anymore. He could only nod, his hips instinctively moving to meet each of Hunter’s deep thrusts, the slaps of their skin echoing sharply in the quiet room. His older body was pliant, completely surrendered to the man who had just risked their entire corporate legacy just to call him husband in front of millions.
The heat in the room surged to an unbearable peak as Hunter increased the pace, his thrusts becoming shorter, harder, and desperate. They were both running on pure adrenaline and decades of pent-up restraint, their bodies nearing their absolute limits. Shawn’s chest was slick with sweat, his breath hitching with every heavy hit against the leather of the couch.
"Hunter... Hunter, I'm close," Shawn cried out, his voice cracking as he arched his back, his fingers digging so deeply into Hunter's shoulders that his nails left red crescents on his skin. "I can't... please..."
Hunter growled, a primal, fiercely possessive sound that rumbled from deep within his chest. He didn't slow down. Instead, he leaned all his massive weight over Shawn, pinning his arms above his head and burying his face into the crook of Shawn’s neck.
As his own climax rushed over him like a tidal wave, Hunter bit down on the soft skin right above Shawn's collarbone. He sucked and nipped with an intense, unyielding pressure, deliberately leaving a dark, unmistakable mark. For twenty-five years, they had been so careful, checking each other in the mirror, using makeup to cover any trace of their intimacy before going live on television. But not tomorrow. Tomorrow, every camera backstage and every fan on the internet would see exactly who Shawn belonged to.
With a final, shattering thrust, Hunter let out a loud, undone groan, completely losing his composure as he came deep inside his husband.
Shawn screamed into the empty locker room, his own release spilling over their stomachs as the intense, white-hot friction of Hunter filling him sent his body into helpless spasms. The sensation of Hunter releasing inside him, hot and completely unrestricted, was overwhelming.
For a long time, the only sound in the room was the ragged, desperate panting of two men completely spent. Hunter collapsed forward, heavy and exhausted, burying his face in Shawn’s neck, his body still twitching slightly as the aftershocks subsided.
Shawn’s arms slowly came around Hunter’s broad back, holding him tightly. His throat was raw, his body throbbed, and his neck stung where Hunter had marked him, but as he looked up at the ceiling of the locker room, the overwhelming terror of the TKO board completely dissolved.
Hunter lifted his head, his dark eyes soft and vulnerable as he looked down at his husband. He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss against Shawn's lips, savoring the reality of their newly conquered freedom.
"They can't touch us anymore," Hunter whispered, his thumb gently tracing the fresh mark on Shawn's neck. "We're finally home."

The medical wing of the fortress was surprisingly warm, smelling heavily of dried lavender, crushed eucalyptus, and soothing herbal salves. It was a stark contrast to the cold stone halls outside, acting as a quiet sanctuary under the care of the castle's chief doctor.
Kevin Nash sat heavily on the edge of a wooden cot, his massive chest bare, his left trouser leg ripped away to reveal a heavily swollen, purple-bruised knee.
Shawn was pacing the stone floor like a caged predator, his signature rose scent flaring with a sharp, thorny anxiety that filled the entire room. He was a complete ball of nerves, his hands clenching and unclenching in pure, unadulterated fury.
"I am going to castrate him," Shawn hissed, his blue eyes flashing as he stopped his pacing to look at Kevin. "I don't care if he is the King of Kings, Kevin. He targeted your injury on purpose. It was a cowardly, pathetic display of Alpha insecurity, and I will never forgive him for this."
"Shawn, breathe," Rey Mysterio said gently, stepping into the space with a wooden bowl filled with a cooling poultice. The short Omega doctor possessed a remarkably calm, grounding energy that instantly worked to soothe the room’s frantic pheromones. He carefully applied the green paste to Kevin's swollen joint, wrapping it in tight, clean linen bandages. Rey looked up at Shawn with a reassuring smile. "Your knight is going to be perfectly fine. Sir Kevin is built like a mountain; his ligaments are intact, it was just a severe hyperextension. He just needs absolute bed rest for the next week, and he will have to use a walking cane for a while until the joint fully stabilizes."
Kevin Nash instantly scowled, letting out a deep, offended grunt that set his cedar wood scent flaring with a stubborn pride. "A cane? Absolutely not. I am a knight of the Western Alliance, doctor. I am not walking around this barbarian fortress looking like a decrepit old man. It's ridiculous. I'd look completely absurd."
"You are going to use the cane, Kevin," Shawn interrupted, his voice dropping into a stern, unyielding royal register as he crossed his arms.
"Shawn, come on, I am seven feet tall," Kevin groaned, throwing his hands up in exasperation. "A cane for me would have to be the size of a young oak tree! I’ll look like a wizard wandering the corridors!"
Leaning against the doorway, chewing on a piece of dried meat with a cocky, thoroughly amused grin, was Eddie Guerrero. The smaller Alpha chuckled, winking at his mate, Rey. "Hey, Big Daddy Cool, if you don't want the cane, maybe I can talk to Mankind and get you one of those little wooden carts? You can just have the Kid drag you around the courtyard. Very majestic, very royal, sí?"
"Shut up, Guerrero," Kevin snapped, though a faint, reluctant twitch at the corner of his lips betrayed his amusement.
"He's not joking about the cane, Sir Kevin," Sean whispered softly from the corner of the room, his sweet dandelion scent finally returning to a calm, relaxed sweetness. "I can ask the woodcarvers to make a beautiful silver-tipped one for you."
"See? The Kid is already picking out your accessories, wizard," Eddie teased, dodging a small rolled-up bandage that Rey playfully threw at his head.
Before the banter could continue, the heavy wooden door creaked open, and the distinct, thick scent of sea breeze musk announced the arrival of Scott Hall. The tall warrior strolled into the medical wing with his usual lazy, rhythmic swagger, his heavy golden chains clinking softly against his vest. He had a fresh toothpick in his mouth, his dark eyes instantly locking onto Kevin's bandaged leg.
"Well, look at the royal patient," Scott drawled, walking over to the cot and leaning over to inspect Rey's handiwork. "Nice wraps, doctor. So, Chico, I hear you're getting a cane? Let me know if you need any gold plating on it. I know a guy in the lower ridges."
Kevin rolled his eyes, but his cedar wood scent mellowed into something distinctly warm and settled as Scott stepped into his personal space. "Get lost, Hall. Don't you have a reputation to rebuild? I hear you just got utterly demolished by a servant boy in front of the whole army."
Scott let out a rich, booming chuckle, thoroughly enjoying the jab. He flicked his eyes toward Sean, giving the young valet a proud, encouraging nod. "Hey, the Kid has a wicked shoulder throw. I'm practically black and blue."
Shawn stopped his pacing, his sharp blue eyes softening as he looked at the mountain warrior. Step by step, Shawn walked up to Scott, dropping his proud, defensive mask for a rare moment of genuine vulnerability.
"Thank you, Scott," Shawn said softly, his voice earnest. "I know exactly what you did out there. You completely humiliated your own Alpha pride just to shift the attention away from my argument with the King. You protected Sean, and you protected my secret. I won't forget that."
Shawn's lips suddenly twitched into a sly, beautiful smirk, his rose scent flaring with a playful, mischievous spark. "But... next time you decide to play the hero, perhaps you could give my valet a little warning? You nearly gave the poor boy a heart attack scaring him like that."
Scott laughed out loud, raising his hands in mock surrender as he winked at Shawn. "Hey, a good scout always keeps his audience on their toes, Your Highness. Besides... the Kid needed to know his own strength."
As the laughter filled the warm medical room, Shawn looked over at Kevin, then down at the floor. The anger against Hunter was still burning hot in his chest, but as he looked around at Eddie, Rey, Scott, and Sean, he realized something profound: the cold, terrifying barbarian kingdom was slowly starting to feel a little less lonely.
While the medical wing enjoyed a brief moment of warmth and laughter, the atmosphere in the private war room above was bordering on a full-blown blizzard.
King Hunter Hearst Hemsley was pacing the heavy stone floor with terrifying, aggressive strides, his massive arms swinging, his rain scent exploding into a dark, stormy gale that filled the entire upper floor of the fortress. He was completely blind with frustration, his jaw clenched so hard behind his blonde beard that his veins were popping along his neck.
"He is an arrogant, spoiled southern brat!" Hunter roared, slamming his fist down onto the heavy oak map table so hard the wood split right down the center with a loud, echoey crack. "A total nightmare! I am the King of Kings! I broke whole armies on these ridges! This entire marriage alliance was a pathetic, terrible mistake, Flair! A full-blown war with King Vincent would have been a thousand times simpler! I could have just marched my men through his walls, burned his courts, and taken what I wanted instead of dealing with this ungrateful prince!"
Standing by the hearth, Ric Flair was practically vibrating with absolute, sheer panic. His face was a bright, frantic red, his elaborate silk robes fluttering wildly as he wrung his hands together in desperation. He was terrified that Hunter was actually going to call off the treaty, dragging them all right back into a bloody, endless war.
"My King! Please! Let us not make rash decisions!" Flair squeaked, his voice cracking under the pressure. "The alliance is essential! The treaty ensures our borders are…"
"Shut up, Flair!" Hunter barked, turning his lethal glare onto his advisor.
Before Hunter could continue his tirade, a heavy, authoritative step echoed across the stones.
Chyna stepped directly into Hunter’s personal space. The legendary female Alpha didn't look intimidated by the King's roaring fury; her dark eyes were cold, steady, and blazing with a fierce, deep-rooted impatience. She crossed her massive, armor-clad arms over her chest, letting out a sharp, disgusted breath before she unleashed a giant, unyielding lecture right into her best friend's face.
"Are you completely done throwing your childish tantrum, Hunter?" Chyna snapped, her voice cutting through the room like an iron blade, completely silencing both the King and Flair. "Because you are acting like a mindless, rabid beast right now, and it is pathetic to watch."
Hunter froze, his green eyes widening in shock as he stared at her. "Chyna, I am the King…"
"I don't care about your crown right now!" Chyna roared back, stepping an inch closer, completely matching his dominant Alpha aura. "Look at yourself! You are treating Shawn Michaels like a conquered piece of land, like an object to be won, instead of a real person! You keep pacing around this castle complaining that he ignores you, but have you even thought about talking to the others?"
Hunter opened his mouth to argue, but Chyna completely cut him off, jabbing a thick iron-clad finger toward his chest.
"You handpicked Sean to be the prince's valet, but ever since they came back from the trail, you haven't gone to talk to him once. Kevin Nash is probably the person who knows the Prince the best in this entire world, and instead of going to talk to him like a man, you decide to challenge him to a fight and break his bad knee in front of his master. Goldust has spent hours with Shawn in the winter garden, and you haven't asked him a single question. Scott has been following that southern knight around like a lost puppy, and you ignored all his advices!"
Chyna let out a heavy, exasperated sigh, her eyes narrowing as she looked at the silent, stunned king. "The prince isn't playing hard to get, Hunter. You are just ignoring the best ways of approaching him. If you want a husband, stop acting like a conqueror and start acting like a partner. Go fix your mess."
The entire war room went completely, suffocatingly quiet. Ric Flair stood in the corner, his jaw practically dropping to the stone floor in sheer disbelief at Chyna’s audacity.
Hunter stared at his best friend, the blinding fury in his green eyes slowly fading, replaced by a sudden, heavy wave of realization and deep, uncomfortable guilt. His rain scent mellowed, turning heavy and somber. Chyna’s words had cut through his stubborn Alpha pride, exposing the raw, clumsy truth beneath. He had completely ruined any chance of making things right.
Without a single word, Hunter slowly turned around, grabbing his fur cloak from the back of the throne and throwing it over his massive shoulders as he headed straight for the heavy oak doors, determined to find a way to patch the cracks before it was too late.
While the high war room shook with the King's fury and the medical wing buzzed with banter, a completely different world existed in the quiet, dusty depths of the lower stables.
Sean slipped past the heavy wooden doors of the barn, his soft dandelion scent returning to its natural, gentle sweetness now that the chaos of the courtyard had settled. His heart was still hammering against his ribs from the adrenaline of throwing Scott Hall onto the dirt, but his mind wasn't on the Alphas above. It was entirely focused on the shadowed stall at the very back.
He walked quietly, his boots rustling against the fresh straw he had laid out earlier. When he reached the corner stall, he found the clean linen bandages and the jar of herbal salve he had left earlier sitting neatly on the wooden crate.
The giant was sitting in the darkest corner, his massive frame hunched over as he leaned against the rough wooden slats. Kane didn't move as Sean approached, but his hollow, shadowed eyes tracked the young Omega with an intense, quiet focus. The heavy scent of ash and smoke that usually shrouded him had thinned, replaced by a raw, lonely warmth.
"Everyone is talking about what happened out there," Sean whispered softly, stopping just at the edge of the stall. He didn't want to crowd the giant, knowing how easily cornered Kane could feel. "Master Scott let me win. I know he did... but it made the other Alphas stop fighting. It kept everyone safe."
Kane stared at him for a long, silent beat. Then, slowly, the towering warrior extended his right arm into the pale light filtering through the stable window. To Sean's surprise, the giant had actually used the linen bandages. They were wrapped clumsily around his thick, heavily burned forearm, tight and unpracticed, but clean.
Sean let out a soft, sweet breath, his dandelion scent flaring with a tender, instinctive warmth. Without thinking, he took a step closer into the stall, his small hands reaching out to gently touch the edge of the messy knot Kane had tied.
"It's a bit too tight," Sean murmured, his voice dropping to a comforting, melodic whisper as his fingers deftly untied the clumsy knot and rewrapped the linen with perfect, gentle precision. "If you bind the burns too tightly, the skin can't breathe, Kane. You have to let the salve do its work."
Kane remained absolutely still, his massive chest rising and falling heavily as the tiny Omega worked. His large, scarred fingers twitched slightly, as if he wanted to reach out and touch the bright dandelion-scented boy, but he held back, terrified of his own destructive strength. He had spent his entire life being treated like a monster, a weapon to be feared and hidden away. Yet, this small southern servant was looking at his scars without a single drop of disgust.
"There," Sean said, patting the neatly tied bandage with a warm smile as he finally looked up into Kane's dark eyes. "That should feel much better."
Kane leaned his head back against the wooden slats, letting out a low, rumbling breath that sounded almost like a sigh of relief. He didn't speak, he hadn't spoken a single word since Mankind had found him hiding, but as Sean stepped back to leave, the giant subtly shifted his massive hand, leaving a single, perfectly polished smooth river stone on the edge of the wooden crate. A silent, mountain token of gratitude.
Sean blinked, looking at the small stone, and his cheeks instantly flushed a deep, beautiful crimson. He picked it up, tucking it safely into his tunic pocket.
"Thank you, Kane," Sean whispered, his scent turning incredibly sweet as he hurried back toward the castle, leaving the giant alone in the quiet shadows, a little less cold than he had been before.

The morning light did very little to soften the harsh edges of the Northern Tower, and it did absolutely nothing to cool Prince Shawn’s temper. He woke up with the phantom scent of freshly fallen rain still echoing in his mind, a lingering reminder of King Hunter’s infuriating green eyes. If the Barbarian King thought a night in the coldest rooms of the fortress would break his southern pride, he was sorely mistaken. Wrapping a heavy velvet robe around his shoulders, Shawn made a silent, stubborn vow as he looked at his reflection in the polished silver mirror: I am going to ignore him. Completely.
Shawn spent the early hours of the morning wandering the labyrinthine corridors of the castle. His natural curiosity had always been his greatest flaw back home, frequently leading him to slip past palace guards, but here, it was a weapon. If he was to survive this place, he needed to know every hidden staircase, every drafty hall, and every structural weakness.
His aimless exploration eventually led him down a spiraling stone staircase to a secluded, forgotten wing of the fortress. There, nestled between towering gray walls, he stumbled upon a glass-domed winter garden. It was mostly abandoned, the glass panels covered in a thick layer of frost and grime, but inside, a few resilient mountain flowers managed to bloom against the cold.
And in the center of it all was Goldust.
The golden Omega was bent over a stone planter, his flamboyant velvet tunic dusted with dirt, meticulously trimming dead leaves from a frost-bitten rosebush.
"I didn't think anything could grow in this tomb," Shawn said softly, stepping into the greenhouse.
Goldust didn't jump. Instead, he turned around with a theatrical, slow flourish, his fingers fluttering near his painted face. "Ah... the magnificent prince. Flowers are like us, my prince. They bleed, they wither, but if you give them just a sliver of golden light... they fight."
Shawn leaned against a stone pillar, watching him. "Why are you here, Dustin? In the mountains, I mean. Your father is Dustin the First, why are you here playing jester?"
Goldust’s breathy chuckle held a sudden, heavy layer of melancholy. His dramatic demeanor cracked, just for a moment, revealing the raw prince beneath the paint. "Dustin... yes. That was my name once, wasn't it? But now I prefer Goldie." He set his shears down, looking out the frosty windows. "My father tried to arrange a marriage for me. A heavy, suffocating contract to a northern Lord I despised. So, I ran. I chose exile over a golden cage. I figured... it was better this way. With me gone, my little brother Cody could inherit the realm safely, without my shadow looming over him."
Goldust closed his eyes, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I left when Cody was still a child. I believe he will be a strong, proud Alpha. The perfect heir my father wanted."
Shawn looked at the older Omega, a sharp pang of sympathy striking his chest. He took a slow step forward. "Goldie... I saw Cody, just a few months before I was sent here. At a grand tourney in the Western courts."
Goldust snapped his eyes open, a desperate, silent question in his painted gaze.
"He didn't present as an Alpha," Shawn said gently, his voice quiet. "Cody is an Omega."
Goldust froze entirely, his breath catching in his throat. His shoulders trembled slightly as the reality hit him, the brother he had sacrificed his entire life to protect was carrying the exact same heavy burden he had tried to escape. "An Omega..." Goldust breathed, a single tear cutting a clean line through the gold paint on his cheek. "My sweet, starry brother..."
Before Shawn could comfort him, a commotion from the courtyard outside the greenhouse shattered the quiet.
Shawn’s sharp eyes darted through the glass. In the snowy yard, a small group of burly mountain Alphas, rough foot soldiers from the lower ranks, were tossing a pile of heavy wooden crates around, deliberately making Sean scramble through the snow to pick them up. They were laughing, releasing subtle, mocking pheromones to force the young valet into submission, making him trip over his own boots.
Shawn’s blood boiled. The McMahon pride flared instantly, and without a word to Goldust, he threw open the greenhouse doors and marched straight into the freezing courtyard.
"Pick that up, little bird!" one of the Alphas barked, kicking a small bundle of firewood into a snowdrift just as Sean reached for it.
"Hey!" Shawn's voice cut through the courtyard like a cracking whip.
The Alphas instantly stopped laughing, their heads snapping toward the southern prince. Sean looked up from the snow, his eyes wide and terrified, his dandelion scent completely flooded with shame and fear.
Shawn walked directly over to Sean, grabbing his arm and pulling him forcefully to his feet. He turned a lethal, icy glare onto the soldiers. "Go back to your barracks before I have Sir Kevin use your skulls for sword practice," Shawn said, his dominant, regal aura making the lower-ranking Alphas exchange uneasy glances before quickly hurrying away into the stone corridors.
"My prince..." Sean whispered, hanging his head, desperately trying to brush the snow off his tunic. "You... you shouldn't have done that. It only makes them mock me more when you're not around."
"Then stop letting them do it!" Shawn insisted, his hands gripping Sean’s shoulders firmly. "You cannot let them treat you like dirt, Sean. You are a citizen of this castle, and you are my valet."
"I am weak, my prince," Sean cried out softly, finally looking up, his eyes glassy with tears. "I am just an Omega from a ruined village. I am too small, too weak to defend myself against Alphas like them. I don't have their strength."
"That is complete idiocy," Shawn snapped, his voice fierce but deeply earnest. "Strength isn't just about muscle, Sean. Did you forget the trail? Did you forget the ambush? When that mercenary had a dagger at my throat, you didn't cower. You stabbed him through the neck. You saved my life!"
Sean blinked, staring at his hands as if remembering the weight of the Rondel blade.
"You have the instinct, Kid. You just lack the technique," Shawn said, a sudden, determined spark igniting in his blue eyes. A brilliant, defiant plan was forming in his mind. "I am going to teach you how to defend yourself. I am going to teach you how to use your speed, your size, and your agility to bring an Alpha to his knees. We start tonight."
Meanwhile, in the high war room, King Hunter Hearst Hemsley was rapidly losing his mind.
He was pacing the heavy stone floor like a caged beast, his rain scent thick, heavy, and storm-like, making the torches flicker with his agitated pheromones. Every single ancient mountain courting tradition he had tried over the past twenty-four hours had failed miserably. He had left prime cuts of meat at Shawn's door—Shawn had told the servants to give it to the hounds. He had left a rare, violently sharp hunting dagger as a token of protection—Shawn had used it to prop open a drafty window.
"He is ignoring me!" Hunter bellowed, slamming his fist onto the map table. "I am the King of Kings! I conquered these ridges, I broke King Vincent's armies, and I cannot even get a single polite nod from a southern prince?!"
Standing by the window, adjusting the cuffs of his overly elaborate, out-of-place silk robes, was Ric Flair. He sighed dramatically, rubbing his temples like a frustrated court advisor. "Because you are treating a delicate, high-born prince like a conquered piece of land, my King! You cannot just throw raw meat at a McMahon and expect him to swoon!" Flair marched over, waving his hands dramatically. "If you want the mate mark to be accepted, you must court him using his traditions! Poetry! Music! Elegant courtly banter! Let me teach you the ways of the Western Alliance, Hunter. We must polish you!"
From the corner of the room, Scott Hall let out a loud, mocking laugh, tossing his toothpick into the hearth. He leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. "Poetry? Are you serious, old man? Can you imagine the King of Kings reciting sonnets? The prince would probably laugh so hard he’d choke on his wine." Scott flicked his dark eyes toward Hunter, giving a lazy smirk. "Just be yourself, boss. Drop the heavy Alpha routine for five minutes. Take him out, show him some real mountain charm. A little smile goes a long way."
Chyna stood right beside the throne, her massive iron-clad arms crossed over her chest. Her dark eyes were serious, but there was a deeply protective warmth in her voice as she looked at her best friend. "Scott is right, Hunter. Stop trying to force a submission aura across the halls. He’s not a soldier in your army; he’s your future husband. You look like a monster walking around the castle right now. Just... be amical. Be a person. Go talk to him like a man, not a king."
Hunter looked between the three of them, Flair looking anxious, Scott looking amused, and Chyna looking exasperated. He let out a long, heavy growl, running a hand through his long blonde hair. He was completely out of his depth, and the wedding was ticking closer by the day.
That night, the cold stone of an abandoned storage wing beneath the Northern Tower served as the makeshift training ground. A single iron candelabra cast long, dancing shadows across the damp walls, keeping the darkness at bay.
Shawn had shed his elegant velvet robes, now wearing a simple, breathable black linen shirt and flexible trousers. Kevin Nash stood in the center of the room, a towering mountain of a man acting as the designated target.
"The fundamental mistake most Omegas make when facing an Alpha is trying to match their force," Shawn explained, his voice quiet but sharp with authority as he paced around a visibly nervous Sean. "You don't have their height, muscle, or brute mass. If you try to push against them, you lose. Every single time."
"So, what do I do?" Sean asked, his hands hovering uncertainly over the wooden training dagger Shawn had given him.
"You use their own weight against them," Kevin rumbled, his deep cedar wood scent filling the damp room like a reassuring shield. He dropped into a loose combat stance, his massive arms extended. "Grab my wrist, Kid. Go ahead. Try to pull me down."
Sean stepped forward and grabbed Kevin's massive forearm, pulling with all his might. Kevin didn't even budge. He looked down at the boy with a patient, micro-smirk. "See? Useless. Now, watch Shawn."
Shawn stepped into Kevin's space. In a movement so fluid it looked like a dance, the prince slipped under Kevin’s extended arm, grabbed the giant’s wrist from a different angle, and used his hip as leverage. With a quick twist of his body, Kevin was forced to lose his balance, his massive frame stumbling forward into the stone wall.
"Leverage and speed," Shawn said, a proud smile breaking across his face as he wiped a stray blonde curl from his forehead. "Alphas are top-heavy. Their center of gravity is high. If you attack their joints or redirect their momentum, they go down just like anyone else. Now, Sean, try it on me. I’ll act as the Alpha."
To Shawn and Kevin's genuine surprise, the young valet was an incredibly fast learner. Sean lacked confidence, but his reflexes were pristine. Within a few repetitions, the boy was executing the blocks with remarkable fluidity, his small frame slipping under Shawn's guard with a natural agility that left Kevin nodding in silent approval.
"You've got great instincts, Kid," Kevin noted, crossing his massive arms as he watched Sean successfully disarm Shawn with a swift twist of his wrist. "Keep this up, and you'll be running circles around Hunter's foot soldiers in a month."
Sean’s dandelion scent sweetened significantly, flushed with a sudden, beautiful surge of pride he had never felt before in his life. "Thank you, Sir Kevin. Thank you, my prince."
The temporary bubble of peace burst an hour later when Shawn returned to his actual chambers. Resting on the wooden table near his bed was a single sheet of heavy parchment, sealed with dark red wax bearing the King's cross crest.
Curious, Shawn broke the seal and unfolded the page. What he read made his blood run absolutely cold with pure, unadulterated fury.
It was a poem. Or rather, a desperate, deeply tragic attempt at one.
Your eyes are blue like a southern lake,
A fragile bird, too delicate to break.
I brought you meat, I brought you steel,
Yet your cold glare is all I feel.
Do not wither in my stone domain,
Let your soft petals drink my rain.
Shawn stared at the words, his hands trembling as his rose scent turned violently sharp, suffocatingly bitter with rage.
A fragile bird? Soft petals?
The words triggered every single trauma Shawn carried from the McMahon court. He hated the way Omegas were treated back home, viewed as nothing but fragile, weak glass dolls, useless bargaining chips whose only worth was measured by the marriage alliances they could bring. He had spent his entire life running away from the palace walls, desperately trying to prove he was more than a submissive womb. And now, this barbarian king, the man who claimed to value raw strength above all else, was looking at him and seeing the exact same thing. A weak, delicate, fragile thing that needed to be managed with silly southern prose.
With a furious snarl, Shawn crumbled the parchment into a tight ball and marched toward the hearth, shoving it directly into the flames. If Hunter thought he could insult his strength and call it courtly romance, the King of Kings was in for a rude awakening.
Meanwhile, in the dimly lit corridor just outside the Northern Tower wing, Kevin Nash stood watch. His arms were crossed over his chest, his face an impenetrable mask of stoic knightly duty.
A quiet clinking of golden chains echoed down the hall, followed by a thick, unmistakable wave of sea breeze musk.
"Still standing there like a statue, mister Knight?" Scott Hall drawled, leaning against the stone pillar opposite Kevin. He was chewing on a fresh toothpick, his dark eyes twinkling with mischief. "You know, if you stay frozen like that, the winter frost might actually claim your knees for good."
Kevin didn't move a muscle, keeping his gaze fixed forward. "I am fulfilling my duty to my prince, Hall. Something a barbarian warrior wouldn't understand."
Scott let out a low, rich chuckle, taking a slow step closer into Kevin’s personal space. His Alpha pheromones rolled off him lazily, testing the boundaries of Kevin's tight composure. "Oh, I understand duty, chico. I just also understand how to enjoy life. You southerners are so tense. It’s like you’re carrying the weight of the castle on those broad shoulders of yours."
Kevin finally cut his eyes over to Scott, his scent of cedar wood flaring with a dangerous, heavy warning. "My shoulders are perfectly capable of carrying my weight. And if your King keeps insulting my prince with ridiculous love notes, those shoulders will be busy burying his scouts."
Scott didn't flinch at the threat. Instead, his smirk widened into something genuine and devastatingly charming. He reached out, his thick, ring-adorned fingers lightly brushing against the heavy iron plate on Kevin's shoulder, a bold, physical challenge that made Kevin's breath catch for a fraction of a second.
"The poem was Flair's idea, you know," Scott whispered, his voice dropping to a smooth register. "Hunter wanted to bring him a warhammer. We told him to be himself, but the old man insisted on the southern poetry. Cut the boss some slack. He’s a killer on the battlefield, but when it comes to a beautiful tiger like Shawn? He’s completely terrified."
Kevin stared at Scott, the sheer audacity of the mountain Alpha slowly breaking through his rigid, knightly armor. A tiny, almost imperceptible twitch at the corner of Kevin's lips betrayed his amusement.
"Terrified?" Kevin rumbled, his tone losing just a sliver of its icy edge. "The King of Kings is scared of a 5-foot-eleven Omega?"
"Viciously," Scott winked, leaning in just an inch closer before backing away with a lazy salute. "See? I knew there was a smile hiding behind that big sword, mister knight. Don't freeze to death out here."
As Scott strolled away, his golden chains clinking in the shadows, Kevin Nash let out a low breath, his cedar scent mellowing into something warm and distinctly unsettled. For the first time in his life, the stoic knight found himself looking forward to his next confrontation.
