Family is a finicky thing, isnât it? Youâre born into a life filled with strangers that youâre meant to call family. Youâre raised to believe that family comes from blood, that youâre built from bits and pieces of everyone born before you. Youâre told that family comes first, that family always has each otherâs back. Blood is thicker than water. Yet, as you you grow older, you begin finding family in those whom arenât of your own blood. People whom have your back quicker than anyone of your kin. You begin to see that maybe blood isnât as loyal as you believe.
 I wish I had known that, now. I wish I had known that before all of this started. Now, I stare at a horizon of destruction. Buildings crumbled, fire spreading, bodies filling the vacant cracks of rock. The smell of hair and skin burning filling the dirty air making even the strongest of stomach turn in disgust. The pale grey sky slowly cracking into nothingness. The sun closed off to the world. Perhaps the sun is the lucky one, it doesnât have to see the pain that has been caused.
 Why did I allow this to happen? Why did I let him get the best of me? WhyâŚdid I trust him? Itâs all my fault.Â
 I could feel my legs growing weak while my heart filled with rage and sorrow. My knees met the harsh, glass covered concrete but I donât feel it. I canât feel the shards penetrating my skin. I never could. All I can feelâŚis nothing butâŚeverything. Why didnât I stop this? So many peopleâŚ.gone.. Perhaps they were right about me. Iâm a monster. A simple mutt of a human. Useless. Nothing but a killing machine. Father would be proud⌠I became exactly what he wanted me to be. His prized weapon.Â
 The sound of a pistol cocking and a cold pressure against my head pulled me out of my loathing state of mind. Though I can not see a face nor a shadow, I know exactly who the owner of the shaking hand is. An old friend.
  âSoâŚthe strongest chain finally broke, huh?â The female voice finally spoke. âAll these years, I had trusted you. Cared for you. Loved you. I treated you like a normal human being and yet you do this?!I thought you had control! â Her voice booming and cracking with emotions.Â
 I want to speak. I have to say something but I canât. Every time I open my mouth, nothing follows through. All I can do is look in front of me at the mess I allowed to happen. I can hear quiet whimpers of grief behind me. She is crying. I want to cry too, but I canât. Why canât I? Why canât I show any emotion?
  âNothing to say? You canât even explain yourself? Not one fucking word?! Do you even feel any sort of remorse?â
  âDo you feel anything at all?!â
 I can hear her take a deep breath to compose herself. The unsteady hand growing stronger, more stable. She spoke again, this time her voice more firm and clear.
  âI made the mistake of giving you a chance.â The pressure of the barrel against the back of my head became harsh. âI made the mistake of letting an experiment roam the streets freely. I will never make that mistake again. Goodbye Sp-â
 A loud bang overpowering her words as a single tear began to trail down my blood covered cheek. Memories of the time before this began to flood my mind. Memories of life, love, pain and loneliness. The memories of how this all began.
