absolutely love abusing the power that comes with 3rd person limited pov and just ignoring things and being vague sometimes. does the character know all the details? no? then I don't have to either.

the inaugural women's professional baseball league teams
the article going over the whys of the names of anyone wants it is here, and it made me nearly cry at my desk:
https://www.womensprobaseballleague.com/2026/07/08/introducing-the-first-four-inspired-by-legends/
Ohhhhhhh! [article here]
Boston Hunters:
New England’s coastal hunter, the osprey doesn’t circle and wait. It picks its target, folds its wings, and hits the water talons first. We move fast and we move first, striking out the competition without hesitation. The Hunters are inspired by Harriot Hunt who, like the osprey, set her mind on a goal and made it happen. A trailblazing physician, she was one of the first women to practice medicine professionally in the USA, despite being denied admission to Harvard twice because of her gender. Like Harriot, the Hunters are ready leave their mark on history books.
Los Angeles Queens:
Inspired by our namesake, Lizzie Murphy – nicknamed the “Queen of the diamond”- the LA Queens are built on the confidence, presence and influence she carried throughout her trailblazing career, qualities that also define Los Angeles. Lizzie Murphy broke barriers at a time when opportunities for women in pro sports were extremely limited, showing the world how true talent rises to the top. We carry the Queen of the diamond’s legacy, channeling her confidence, ambition, and style. It’s time to claim the throne.
New York Heights:
Built around the ambition, intensity and relentless standards associated with New York, the Heights demands excellence. Just like our namesake, Dorothy Height, we’re ready to rise to the occasion. One of the most influential leaders of the civil and women’s rights movements, Dorothy Height dedicated her life to advancing equality for all. As we take the field, we‘re inspired by her confidence, leadership, and unwavering commitment to her goals. Just like Dorothy Height, we‘re ready to rise to the occasion and change the game.
San Francisco Firebells:
Forged in fire, inspired by the rebellious spirit of Firebelle Lil. San Francisco has burned and rebuilt more than any other American city, but like a phoenix, each time we’re knocked down we come back stronger. As a teenager, Lillie “Firebelle Lil” Hitchcock Coit famously leapt into action to help San Francisco volunteer firefighters battle a blaze on Telegraph Hill. She became an icon for the firefighters, known for rebellious attitude and open defiance of the gender norms of the time. Like Firebelle Lil, we show up and show out, bringing our energy, pride, and ambition with us every time we hit the field.

I just wrote 8 pages when I haven't written in months and was beginning to think I'd never be able to again. Idk what it is, but I am sharing and manifesting this energy for every writer who sees this. May you write 8 quality pages effortlessly and find joy writing once more
I just started writing again yesterday after being blocked for over a year. I've got 5 pages done so far and I expect 3 more to finish this WIP so allow me to pass the 8 page energy on to anyone else who needs it.
Still not over his legal government name. And address. And birthday.
This is the essence of Down to Agincourt: in between Cas internally comparing Dean wearing several layers of clothing to Salome scarf dancing for King Herod and him saying "I would bring all of Creation to its knees for your pleasure," Cas gets distracted by Dean's T-shirt covered shoulder. The impossible, infinite fallen angel is a Victorian woman with the vapors at the sight of a single layer of clothing (though later he has a moment about Dean's bare feet).
And this is still the first third of book three.
we could all start dtaposting again. if we wanted it hard enough
do you ever just … picture a whole scene, a whole fanfiction in your head, you know how to place every single word of the english dictionary that you need (or your language dictionary), you know how to structure your sentences, you know just what your characters are going to say to each other and then… and then you just open microsoft word.
Its the doc! The blank document steals the ideas from. Your brain!!!! If you want to keep your ideas,, do NOT look at the doc when you open it, look STRAIGHT* AT THE KEYBOARD and write the first words to pop into your head! Once the document isn't empty it, takes away its evil power over you
two things:
the mental image of that is hilarious
it might just work

Write that one-shot. Those 3 chapters will be the best 10 chapters you ever wrote
The Carolina Hurricanes Have Hoisted Lord Stanley's Cup
I want to start this by saying I'm a Dallas Stars fan. Have been since 1998. My non-sports friends now understand the offside rule because of my dedication to the Stars.
Way back last year, when the Stars org traded Logan Stankoven for Mikko Rantanen, I wasn't super excited about the change. I'd seen Mikko as an Avs player, and since they're as close to rivals as we have, I wasn't impressed. (Clarification: The entire league hates the Stars. We are treated as everyone's rivals.) I like Stankoven. I liked the way he played with Wyatt Johnston. They made such a great pair on the ice - young, talented, eager. I was excited about the future of the Stars with these guys as the Next Big Thing, much like Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin had been. So when Stankoven was traded, I Wasn't Happy.
Of course now, I love Rantanen. I adore how he fit into our Finnish Mafia, how he works with the lines. Doesn't matter where you put him, who he's on the line with, he makes plays. He sets his teammates up for success, time and again. He's worked with Johnston, making him a more physical player, or giving him the support to know he can be a more defensive player. And he's right in the middle, between our older guys and our young guys. He has experience, but still has the energy and drive to do some truly insane shit on the ice.
That said, I miss Stankoven. I've watched him blossom with the Hurricanes. With that organization, he's had opportunities he never would've had with the Stars, simply because of the talent on both teams, and the system differences between the way Rod Brind'Amour and Glen Gulutzan coach. I'm proud of him. I'm excited for him. I want to see what he can do in the years to come.
Am I happy about the trade? I don't know. I think it was an opportunity for both players to show what they could do, and shine while doing it. I think it was the best situation for both of them. But, I hope Logan Stankoven knows that he'll always be a Dallas Star, and that we were rooting for him.
Despite the last year of events with the NHL, and the players involved, I still consider myself a hockey fan in general, and a Stars fan specifically. That said, it was a hell of a run to the cup, and I'm damn proud of what the Hurricanes accomplished. Now we get to sit back, relax, and do it all over again in September.
less of a poem, more of a reminder. ( ఌ )
writing? oh, i’m definitely writing. in my head. during the most inconvenient times. like in the shower or when i’m about to fall asleep. actual typing? no, no, we don’t do that here.
I was just reading a book where both POV characters spent much of the time making understandable bad, self-destructive, sometimes unkind decisions, and it got me thinking about how there is a real impulse that a lot of writers have to make their protagonists be good. The writing reassures us that the protagonist really is kind and generous and smart and witty, and if they are selfish it's only in the sort of acceptable "I can't stand to see others hurt" sort of way.
Your characters don't need to go to the extremes that the book I was reading went to (I did find myself yearning for literally anyone to make a good choice), but before you find yourself writing something with the purpose of convincing the reader that the character really is good or smart or selfless, it may be worth pausing and asking whether your character needs to be all of those things, or whether it might serve your story to have them be something else.
