My theory about Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die is that all of it's a virtual reality and we, the viewers, are watching it play out. Nobody is real. Not The Man and not Ingrid and not Susan. All of it is fake, literally and narratively. So we see backstories and various POV bc we are the passive player in the "game". We go through the journey with them, passively partaking in the quest. And it ends with "this is all fake", and then the story loops to give us hope that the characters actually free the world of AI...before it's revealed to all be false again to us, the viewer, via the dead rat and the hot sauce bottle randomly vibrating and falling. And it is a false reality: it's a movie. Our knowledge that it's a movie and therefore fake is part of the story.
