The Embodiment of Greed

“ Oh! uhm— ”

This was still quite the unusual situation, even if he was happy to assure good intent. How often did someone track you down, only to try and make a…. business deal? purchase? Easy hadn’t even had the chance to set up her stall at the local market in recent weeks, so where this ‘little bird’ had been put on her scent in the first place was just as peculiar.

All that said, she still rises from where she’d knelt in the garden, cleaning her hands with an old tea towel which hung from her apron, while coming closer to the gate her… company now stood by. “ ‘alarm’ ‘s a pretty serious word; just surprised would suit better, I reckon. ” she half-greets, reassuring, though still a bit uncertain.

“ most ‘business’ I’ve done doesn’t find me in my back yard unannounced, but I s’pose there’s somethin’ t’ be said for takin’ initiative. an’ it’s very polite of y’ t’ make clear you aren’t going to hurt me. ” to assume nothing of the reverse, and also hint that he definitely does hurt other people. you know, on the ‘not purely business’ sort of visits. 

“ …still, I do grow a fair stock ‘round here. herbs, fruit, an’ th’ like. was there something… in particular you were looking for? ”

“Ah, I suppose you’re right.  Most townsfolk feel off put by my more eccentric style, but you seem different.”

This girl’s next words have him nodding along as well, albeit half-listening.  “Well, y’see, I don’t make it to the farmer’s market all that often, and my friend did his very best to convince me to drop by.”  His arm comes to rest upon the gate, after which his posture eases.

“So, a little bird told me you were making some mighty fine crops ‘round these parts?”  Greed announced his presence, joined on both sides by members of his special club.  Said bird sniffed out the food earlier that afternoon and brought it straight to his attention.  Now, the Homunculus was never one to leave his flock wanting, so he thought he’d drop by and see what deal could be struck up.
