Alone in her hospital room, Riza doses on and off. She hears the echoes of voices - shouts, screams, cries. The last months swirl between sleep and memories in a strange bird's eye view. Danger no longer lurked. And yet she finds herself still glancing about, at the shadows and around the corners they slowly walked through. Another process of healing ahead.

A chill races up her spine. Rebecca already went to her apartment to retrieve a few comforts and her baby pink sweater, but she was still a bit chilly. She felt more stable since the transfusions and surgery to ensure Mei's healing would hold. Still - it was imperative to not stand up too quickly, stay hydrated and fed...along with other mandated regimens.

'Look after the Colonel. Please stay safe.' Her last honest words to Emily. It reverberates in her mind one last time before she opens her eyes.

She exhales, physically attempting to release the pent of anxiety that she held on for months. That anxiety kept her vigilant, but now it was only twisting her tighter. Emily would want her to feel at ease. She focuses from the tips of her toes to the crown of her head, keeping her breathing slow and steady. Intentionally releasing the tension in her muscles and ligaments, she progresses. Soon she relaxes her shoulders, her jaw, her fingers against the blanket on her legs... And when she finally sinks back into her pillow a knock sounds from the hospital door.

Fuery peeks in to make sure she's awake. His voice soft, "Hawkeye? She's here. Do you-?" Riza cuts him off with a nod before he can finish.

Her throat, despite her meditative attempt to loosen her mind and body, is tight as she responds. "Yes - please let her in. Thank you Sergeant." She exhales, this time a chill of anxiety swirling slowly down her spine. Were the tips of her fingers shaking due to her body's state, or nervousness of having a conversation alone with Emily for the first time in months?

The smallest of smirks pulls at his lips as eyelids fall downward. Gently a hand is reached out towards the suitor...

...only to pluck away the glass that was unfinished before them.
