I had this idea of drawing Grace as a skeleton in the astronaut suit but covered in plants and Rocky is next to it covered in moss and plants too, but that seemed a wee bit too depressing.
So have the Petrova line being pseudo red spider lily instead. smth smth about death flower sprouting out of the petrova line

Paperback to hardcover rebind, a birthday gift for a friend
My idea was to have the dust jacket featuring Six wearing her diviner dress, but the pages are ripped and underneath you can see peaks of her in her armor

As is my way now it would seem, I started this one in September. The line in the typeset is the approximate shape of I-10, with LA chapter titles being on the west side and El Paso chapters being on the east side.
The cover was harder: I always thought of this fic as sort of a yellow, which didn't really seem right for a cover. I asked Cly for a description and they said "a warm window at night. so kind of cool blue grey purple evening and then also the warmth of a lamp. that’s so unhelpful my god" but it was, in fact, very helpful. And then this whole book proceeded to be a comedy of errors because:
I had what I thought was the perfect fabric, a sort of two-toned blue/black. I had exactly enough for the cover (thanks, Fitz!) and then proceeded to fuck it up (RIP) by first: gluing the cover (which is made of two thin pieces of board glued together, one of which has a rectangle cut in it) on upside down, so the window was on the bottom half, and then: leaving too much space around the spine.
So I made a new one with the blue moire, of which I have...plenty. Cover went fine. Got the paper window in perfectly. Did a practice run with the stamping machine (known hereonout as The Machine, to keep with my Princess Bride equipment name theme.) Measured it, then, like Icarus, though I could make a measurement adjustment on the fly and have it come out correctly. Reader, it did not:
I spent like ten minutes trying to convince myself that it was fine. But. It wasn't fine. So I started over.
Anyway. Covers 3 and 4 are what you see in the final versions. I eventually figured out that if I taped a few layers of watercolor paper on top of the cover to test the location in The Machine, I could make sure to line it up exactly correct. I also figured out that I could do this by adjusting the placement just slightly between stamps:
So maybe I'll try and do that on purpose at some point, though I'm sure that's when it'd ultimately fail me.
Anyway, the punchline of all of this is that after all of this, over the course of a few months, I made an error that was a first for me, and everyone I showed it to. The endpaper curled when I put paste on it, and I didn't notice. You kind of have to laugh:
I don't ENTIRELY hate it because there's no board showing and it gives an interesting page turn effect. but that was NOT the intended outcome. RIP. I sent the author the successful one.
Remus is sensitive to changing tides, a part of the moon always with him, and Black is like the sea. He can smell it on him, the way his magic builds up and crackles about the fingertips.
A werewolf, a convict, and a riddle.
I'm excited to share my first foray into fanbinding, featuring one of my favorite wolfstar fics. Please give it a read!
I also included the original illustrations in the story from @hoje--aqui and @a-sunset-outside-my-window (used with explicit permission), and I think they look spectacular!
It's such a romantic and beautifully researched story in such a fantastic setting (Egypt, which has always been an obsession of mine) I knew I needed some way to manifest my adoration into a physical object. I think the printed format makes referencing the footnotes a lot easier too!
I knew immediately that I wanted to try binding it using the Coptic technique with a simple cover, so it would feel like an old dusty tome dug up from somewhere. The inside cover is lined with real papyrus. I loved working on the typeset, and I used an Egyptian lotus for the scene change ornaments. The stars in the sky above the dunes on the belly band are arranged into the a constellation of Altair too, and I included a couple of old lithographs that I felt captured the scenery.
I'm grateful I was allowed to bind this lovely story, it was a very fun project! I already have some ideas of the next stories I'd love to work on.

I recently completed my very first clamshell box! I referenced DAS YouTube video and also some notes from friends. I bound the book Anne of Green Gables (typeset by Canon in D) and created a design to match the vintage design in the typeset. I was able to save enough scraps of materials to make this clamshell! I love how this turned out.
This is a German bradel style binding with a rounded and backed spine. I used an 8mm spacer for my hinges, which I think is my new preference n I really love the look and how well it opens.
I chose not to sew my own end bands here and instead wrapped some decorative paper around the core. I have seen this on some other bindings and really thought it looked sleek. The edges are painted with acrylic ink using a sponge and then toothbrush to flick paint on top. Spine and corner material is from Neenah (I think!) intended to mimic the look of leather. It was very lovely to work with and I wish I knew where I got it so I could get more! The marbled paper on the outside was marbled by me. Technique is called “over marbling” and is a result of marbling the paper once, and when it dries, re-aluming and marbling a new pattern over the top. Typically with translucent paints to allow the pattern underneath to show through.
Overall, I am so pleased with how this turned out. It might be one of my favorites to date :)
