Happy pride everyone, I made a bracelet for myself. This is braceletbook's 26584 in the aroace colors.
After a long time where I've focused on bookbinding instead, simply knotting a bracelet was really soothing. I should do this more often again. <3

A near perfect version of my Project Hail Mary rebind with painted edges! This won’t be listed in my Etsy shop for a while. I am prepping for an in-person event at the end of the month, and I have to make sure I have stock to sell there! A few listings I am letting sell out, or I am making inactive for now while I prep for the Makers Festival on May 30th in Massachusetts. I plan to have a few copies of some of my most popular listings - like Dune, PHM, Jurassic Park, and more ready to be sold then. This is one reason why rebinds are so expensive! They take so long to make, you can only make so many at any given time. I am excited for the festival - I am just not sure how popular rebinds will be, so I may be overly prepping, but better safe than sorry.
My Etsy and Insta are also @madebytaylorursula

How to fix a ripped plushie (clear and easy to follow) by 浪浪山陈三丫头手缝师傅
ok thank god there's so many fucking videos showing you how to do a ladder stitch like it's some kind of magic trick but here's the actual use case for it: closing a seam you can't reach the inside of. in all other cases, if you're fixing a ripped seam on pants, or on a tshirt, the ladder stitch is a messy, glorified running stitch.
this may be the best demonstration of a ladder stitch I've ever seen. I've done this one a few times, but I always mess up hiding the thread at the end, this video makes it very easy to see exactly what you need to do. neat!
Another "ANNO 2205" font question:
The best match I've found is the free font "NasalizationRg-Regular", which appears to be a variation of the commercial font "Nasalization Regular" but with some alternate letterforms and slightly different proportions.
The free font matches the game-image perfectly in every character except the "G" (where the font has an almost-perfectly-circular lower-right loop, the game has a round-cornered rectangular loop which doesn't stick out as far) and the "1" (the game's version has shorter top bar with a tighter curve). Here's a GIF alternating between the game-image and a recreation using "NasalizationRg-Regular":
The commercial font's proportions don't match nearly as well, its version of "G" has the same problem as the free font, its version of "R" has a substantially-different lower half, and its version of "1" has a top bar which is also too long but with an even tighter curve than the game-image.
I've looked for other variants of "Nasalization" which might have the correct "G" and "1", but without success. Can you find any?
I can't find a version that matches. I think maybe the G and the 1 were both manually edited to create more space between them and the adjacent letters.
By the way, it's not that the paid version is different from the free version, but that the free and paid versions were both revised at some point, and the free version on WhatFontIs is the old version. The free version on dafont.com has the same changes as the paid version.
Typography Tuesday
Today we present some fancy Caslon capitals, borders, and ornaments from The Manual of Linotype Typography, printed by the Plimpton Press for the Mergenthaler Linotype Company in Brooklyn, New York, in 1923. William Caslon (1692-1766) famously introduced the first superior British Roman font in his 1734 specimen sheet. Various iterations of the Caslon typefounding house persisted until the 1930s when it was acquired by Stephenson Blake, but the Caslon Roman typeface remains the classic British font.

I know myself well enough to know I would not be very good at fanbiding and that would mainly frustrate me, so while I love fan binding and admire those who do it, I've never dabbled.
I have never regretted that decision more than I did waking up from the dream I recently had, where I excitedly bought a rare copy of the novel that Goncharov (1973) was based on, opened it up, and found that it was a hollowed out "book safe" for keeping valuables in.
if you like any of these, then imagine what i can do with 1. time and 2. money and 3. The Wisdom of Emperors☀️🪿

I was able to bind my dear friend's ( @buttherewasnogod ) story A Beast at Heart.

You will find a smiley face covering her name which is not her pen name. MY BAD! Although I am pretty proud how this turned out.
I need to learn how to take photos. *sigh*
my partner does bookbinding as a hobby, and I asked him to bind the 36 Lessons into a tome for me to have, just for fun and also as a cool way to reference them for my writing. I think it came out amazing!
A very purple book! This is Lynchpin by ShanaStoryteller. After being given this purple marbled paper (made by @dcbrierton) I knew I wanted to use it for a Jiang Cheng centric fic. This was typeset by @missaphelion who was kind enough to share her typeset with me.
I wanted to highlight the paper in the cover design so I cut out the letters from a strip of paper for the front title, and then used those cut out letters for the spine title. The last time I did a title cutout I did not have a cutting machine -- this makes it so much easier.
The purple bookcloth looks a lot brighter in person -- it is a VERY purple book.

I made a book out of the 1938 War of the Worlds radio drama!
(which you can listen to here on archive.org)
This is my first time doing a buttonhole stitch binding. Most examples I saw were blank notebooks, and had decorative sheets wrapped fully around the outside of each section of paper, but I didn't want to interrupt the flow of the text, so I just pasted a thin strip of the marbled paper down to the outer fold edge of each section.
oh artisanal. Wow that is bad kerning.
