Framing experiment - Iris . One of my ulterior motives in painting this tiny canvas was to try making a small floater frame! 😁 I loosely followed the steps in a very cool tutorial from @alyssamees’ YouTube channel, and adapted it to what materials I had at hand ☺️ It was a lot of fun, though pretty time consuming since I wanted to make sure to leave pleeeeenty of drying time for the wood glue. That, and I repainted the frame 4 times over 🤣 . I would have liked a natural wood colour, but I found the one I had slightly too pale, so I first painted it the same colour as the gold background, then decided it didn’t look contrasty enough and painted it over in pearlescent white, which was cool but a bit too shiny, then the posca purple, before deciding on a layer of black and another of iridescent purple/green. Colour of the Sea - Inktober day 31 . #echoInktober, 31/31 . The uncapped tube smelled of whale song and darting fish . I. HAVE. FINISHED. INKTOBER!!!!! 🥰✨ For the first time ever! Wheeeeeeeeeee~~~ And yes, it is almost 10 days since then end of October, but at least I completed my personal challenge 😁 I learned how to pace myself better this year, and just let it be if I have too much schoolwork to do my inktober piece on some days. Also, the print part was much faster than the painting part, oops 😂 This last one is a combination of print + painting 🥰 . At Long Last - Inktober day 30 . #echoInktober, 30/31 . She painted the first eye when she planted some of the mysterious seeds in each of her pots, and today finally one of them sprouted . Every Seed a Tree - Inktober day 26 . #echoInktober, 26/31 . Once they fall the the loamy ground, they prepare to reach once again for the clouds . I tried a different order of painting/inking for this one : I wanted to paint in the trees first because I didn’t want to over ink the pinecone, but I didn’t want to paint the background over the trees, so I started with that… And almost entirely washed out my sketch for the pinecone 😂 I guess this was a good piece to test this on, since stakes are lower if I diverge wildly from my sketch on unpredictable vegetal matter😊Swipe for details, progress pics, tape peeling, and and the print from this pair 🙂 . This one came from remembering that story about squirrels planting a lot of trees from forgetting some of the seeds and nuts they bury for winter (they do find most of them! I’m not even sure I can say as much about the clothes I put away for a season 🙈). Also, drawing tiny trees is fun 😁 . In the process of painting this, my cat stole a drink from my tea, and I washed my brush in my mug soon after that 😅 . This one was actually the first illustration idea I had come up with in my current inktober list! Print Fair!! . So… I wanted to wait until I finished my series of teapot prints to announce this, but I’m too slow and now something exciting has happened! I have recently created a separate account for printmaking: @echo.printmaker. I will still post prints here from time to time, but I want to keep this account mainly for illustration in other media 🙂 So for the exciting news… I have been selected to take part in the virtual Dover Print Fair, which is also part of the Fête de l'estampe! 🤩 I will be transforming my feed @echo.printmaker into an online shop this weekend at 12pm Paris time. It will be my first time ever taking part in a print festival on the other side of the artists’ tables 🥰 It feels amazing to join in an event celebrating printmaking with a wonderful community of artists! .
