you attract: comfort

waking up to the sound of singing chickadees perched on your windowsill by your sleeping lover; giggling by their side as you watch the sky, laying on a picnic blanket with small sandwiches and juice boxes near you; slow dancing late at night to no music in the middle of your kitchen floor. you attract comfort. falling in love with you is like going home. it's like breathing in and basking in the familiarity of it all. those who search for you find that they are at their happiest when they finally find you. your beauty is a breath of fresh air, a painting that soothes, a melody that you recognize. your love is so gentle, so kind, so soft to the touch that it eases the hearts of everyone around you. people find themselves relieved even at the sight of your mere smile, and they don't even know why. you bring warmth to this world, my angel. keep shining.

to mara sov. a queen who allowed me in her court. you made a choice to trust me despite your own dislike of lightbearers. though many would not understand the choices you’ve made, i know you’re doing what you believe is right. i hope someday others will believe it too. i wish i could be there to help support you. fight on, my queen.

to sjur eido. the strongest fighter of them all. i know i’m speaking to a ghost now. whatever i say won’t be heard. but i want to tell you something i wish i had before. as i got to know you, i learned many different ways to truly be a guardian. you are proof that no one needs light in order to be unstoppable. i hope, somehow and in some way, i made you proud.

to wu ming. a bastard in the shape of a man. you’re a liar and a snake and i’m sorry i ever loved you. i’m sorry i still love you. i don’t know if anything you ever told me was the truth. sometimes i wish i had never met you...and sometimes i wonder if i would even still be alive had i not met you. 

to namqi. a light like i have never known before. you gave me hope during times i would have lost it. i was only so strong because i knew you. the memories i was lucky to make with you will remain in my heart until it stops beating. i wish i could have been there to help, darling. not being there during...not being there will forever remain the thing i regret the most. i’ll see you again someday. i love you.

[rustling and disturbance of the recording]

i hope nothing happens to you. you’re all i have left, little flower. [voice becomes muffled] for all that’s left in the world, please don’t leave me. please. let me die before you leave me.

glowing shoulder freckles hidden under armor. 

sharp teeth that make her smile seem dangerous. 

calloused fingers with a surprisingly gentle touch. 

strong arms that hug you warmly while also feeling like they could break your spine. 

protection or destruction depending on your own actions.

fiery light used as a beacon for those who are lost. 

a warhammer that is both a weapon and a symbol of peace. 

words of certainty with trembling movements. 

a weighted speech with a quivering voice. 

serious eyes when dressing a wound that almost turn sheepish after.

passion when speaking of her nightmares and a soft tone when disregarded.

a dream to cling to, to fight for, after she’s lost everything.

“ Ya. Hm. ” He’s genuinely taken aback for a moment, and it shows across his features. So it is teachable. Maybe he should have known better. Given more credit. Then again, he always bristles up like a child; though it’s never in malice, always for poking fun. He knows it’s all for fun. But this ? He takes the advice with serious thought. He mulls it over. It’s become more about survival tactics than a little game. His eyes flick up to her. “ So yer tellin’ me, it’d be best for me t’ learn th’ pressure it takes t’ break m’ own skin, then work on findin’ a way t’ get the pressure out t’ break stronger skin ? Or are ya sayin once I break past m’ own, ‘m gonna understand how t’ apply th’ pressure t’ break through ? ” Ah, could be phrased better. 

“ Right, lemme try that again. Ain’t soundin’ right. ” His demeanor shifts, he genuinely is trying to take this in now and make sure he understands. He makes direct eye contact when he tries to outline his understanding again; he wants to make sure he’s picking it up right, it’s a little crucial. “ If I understand the pressure needed t’ break skin, m’ own, if I feel it, then are ya sayin’ that it can be applied in other circumstances ? That by knowing breakin’ through m’ own, even if others are tougher, I can apply the practical knowledge and put more pressure down t’ break it on someone with tougher skin ? ” He pauses, after, thinking. Then there’s a slight snort, and a chuckle.

“ Or, alternatively, I pay someone off t’ sharpen m’ canines. That’ll puncture. ” And an easy way out, honestly. 

brows furrowed as he tried to string his words together. he wasn’t necessarily good with them, but at least he was trying. it was always hard to confront him with change. she was familiar with the fact she viewed almost every skill in a practical manner. if she couldn’t use it in a fight or to keep herself alive, it wouldn’t necessarily be something she’d immediately want to pass on. maybe he knew that. it was a bit pleasing to see him make an attempt to understand, even if it was just to entertain her. “ you don’t necessarily need to make sure you can break your own skin. you just need to figure out where your current limit for pressure is and whether or not you can increase it. ”
