Maven Poem a "Song" He Wrote
Monster by Maven Calore
The stench of blood hangs in the air Swiftly rotting as it burns I hang with it, and so does Mare Ashes churning in the urn It seeps into my every step Dripping softly on the stone Running down into the depths That whisper of how I’m alone The monster in me says it just For we will all do as we must As we need, and cannot cede To what we could’ve once believed And let the chance now slip us by Because we didn’t think to lie The stench of rot creeps through the air Swiftly choking those who’ve learned That it is better not to care For those who all were better burned It comes for those who’ve finally left A demise that will be all their own A finely chiseled, sharpened cleft For those who will not have my throne The monster in me says it best For I can’t let them think me less Then we need, and cannot cede To what we will not once believe And let the chance now slip us by Because I didn’t think to lie I say it loud and claim it proud For if I don’t, they’ll make me bow To what they say will make me best That I know will make me less Than what I want, than what I sought That in the end, will get me caught In what I never meant to be A loser, weak eternally The monster in me knows what’s best That will not let them think me less Knows what I need, and will not cede To what she wants me to believe And let the chance now slip me by Because I wouldn’t dare to lie @nortaeventcouncil
