a character that i wish was expanded upon more heavily in the series would definitely be jon. like what was going on with him. whats His problem???
spoilers for war storm or maybe broken throne (cant remember where i read this) but if im remembering correctly jon was the one who pushed kilorn's master which caused his death and subsequently caused the events of the series and i feel like we glossed over this very quickly???
what would've happened if jon stuck to the whole not altering the present to change the future thing. what was ACTUALLY supposed to happen. was the entire series an alternate ending that jon preferred?? if so then what was the original story supposed to be? how many things could he have altered to change the trajectory of the story??
im pretty sure this was something he told mare which she kind of just glossed over. like I wouldn't blame her if she thought she was insane because i would immediately assume i lost my shit but if it were me i would be freaking out. what do you MEAN jon exists and is a character that exists and never got more than a handful of paragraphs of stardom??

when he was young, he tended to be blunt with his words and once said the wrong thing in a precarious situation
elara had to cover up for him and she berated him heavily for it afterwards
even without elara’s influence, i do think maven would have been good at crafting words and language
but if he spoke his mind it would tend to be rather blunt, because even as a kid he was judgmental
which was probably influenced by elara, because whenever they were around others elara would silently pick on the people around them and tell maven which people / mistakes to avoid
when children of silver elites spent time in each other’s presence they would often tease or make playful remarks towards each other (some good-natured, some not) but they never did this with maven
it made him feel left out but he probably wouldn’t know how to react if they did tease him
he had to hide parts of himself a lot— he rarely gets to be himself fully with anyone. the only person whom he felt knew him the best was elara, only because she was literally inside his head
even thomas didn’t know all of maven’s dreams and fears during the time they were together. it wasn’t that maven felt uncomfortable being himself around thomas, it was just that they never got the chance to know each other in that depth. and most of the times they were together, they weren’t holding deep conversations about themselves
there’s just so many layers and sides to maven, and combined with elara’s tampering, sometimes even he isn’t completely sure who he is on his own, apart from his love for thomas and later mare. he’s just there as an extension of elara..
he didn’t really mind that, though. in a way, elara’s goals gave him purpose
he has good fashion sense but it clashed with both evangeline and iris’s styles when he was engaged to them (iris’s the most though)
his matched with mare’s well enough when she was mareena because the palace designed of all of mare’s outfits
there was behavioral evidence that elara tampered with maven’s mind even before the betrayal, something subtly off about his mannerisms and demeanor that signaled that he wasn’t really himself
sometimes he would look as if he was conversing with someone inside his head, or maybe tense up at random moments, and his voice would have a flow and tone that sounded taught. it would probably be unnerving if you spent too much time with him
it was different than if you took a speech class or worked on your enunciation- you could tell that his words came from elara if you knew them both well enough
mare didn’t in red queen but i think julian probably did
i don’t remember if this is canon (it’s canon to me) but he is a huge perfectionist and will get upset with himself over the smallest details
maven being a tortured bisexual soul with mommy issues and sociopathic tendencies. bro belongs in the bachelor of arts. in fact the music industry wouldve LOVED him

𝚊𝚌𝚛𝚘𝚜𝚜 𝚌𝚕𝚊𝚜𝚜𝚎𝚜. muse a is a royal and muse b is a commoner (servant, cook, w.hore in a brothel, etc). the two aren’t supposed to have nothing in common. yet when they find themselves alone after an attack they seem to bond. they have to sneak around behind everyone’s back. surely if they’re caught they’ll be separated.
𝚊𝚏𝚏𝚊𝚒𝚛𝚜 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚌𝚊𝚜𝚝𝚕𝚎. muse a is one of the rulers of the kingdom, sitting on the throne in their perfect marriage. muse b is anyone else within the castle (worker, other noble, muse a’s rightful heir, etc) so the two have to interact every now and then. soon enough muse a realizes they’re attracted to muse b. will they risk it all for them or will they stick to their duty?
𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝚊 𝚝𝚛𝚘𝚒𝚜. muse a and muse b have been together for a long time in secret. muse a has been recently married off to muse c for political reasons (royals marrying each other for an alliance, more power, to stop a war, etc). instead of ending one relationship for another, muse a brings muse b and muse c together one night to explain the situation. they don’t want to pick, so the three will have to work something out.
canonically, Evangeline doesn't like Iris bc she's not easy to rattle, but she was also relieved when she broke off her engagement for her. I think they both viewed Iris as a wild card, and while Elane had more information about her bc spy, they had a reserved sense of uneasiness about her, if that makes sense

mare - typical posts about her life, reblogs stuff she finds relatable, etc. she’d probably have subtle posts talking about silver oppression but i imagine silvers would heavily regulate social media, and she’d have to delete her account once she became mareena. maven would definitely limit what she can say during the first half of king’s cage
cal - mainly reblogs / posts about his training, the war, being a general, etc.
maven - i remember seeing Va say that if he was a social media, he’d be instagram to keep his aesthetic but imagine if he had a secret vent blog.. it would be a nightmare
also imagine iris’s reaction when she finds out 🥲
iris - rarely posts and when she does it’s usually pictures of her family
julian - extremely detailed nortan history and geography posts. answers everyone’s questions in the comment section and is really thorough with his explanations
kilorn - mostly unserious posts, unless there’s something wrong he’ll constantly be posting the most random thoughts (after he joins the scarlet guard he gets busy and doesn’t post as much but that doesn’t stop him from coming back after being inactive for 3 weeks with “hi did everyone miss me?? what are our thoughts on [super trivial topic]”)
cameron - i don't think she would blog much during the events of the series but after the war's over she'd have a really nice blog with her interests
farley - coded scarlet guard announcements / news
shade - i want to say pictures of him and farley.. maybe pictures of him and his friends too (and also of him and mare before he was conscripted)
evangeline - realistically in rq 1 (and prior) she probably didn’t post much other than official nortan information / news, as she had to keep a cold impeccable image, but after she and elane are safely in montfort i can see her ranting on it sometimes.
also if evangeline had instagram it would have been filled with gorgeous professional shots of her, especially in the time leading up to queenstrial and during her engagement to cal. but after the events of the series she’d post more simple posts- sometimes she and elane took photos when they spent time together, and she’d post her favorites afterwards
