So they went home and prepared themselves. Sharpened their skills. Honed their magic. Worked on their teamwork. Waiting for the evil that would come.

I mean they absolutely would be rusty skill wise, but their attitudes would be amazing to see. They'd embody the:

They dont have time for this shit and despite being rusty with their old abilities, they seem to have either developed new ones (not necessarily more powerful, but just as effective); or their current lives and experiences might just have made their previous abilities *stronger* (something-something, the scary stuff that you'd thought you'd never be able to manage as a young teen/20-something is a lot easier to deal with after you hit middle age bc life experiences).
