something I see when I look at team rwby is the strength of the bonds are forged by the writers constantly ripping them apart, either by circumstance of plot or by character choice.
even all the way back in volume one, the narrative was pulling the team apart. Figuratively, Weiss and Blake fighting, and literally, the initiation throwing them all over. With character writing,
thus the act of team rwby fighting together get back to each other is showing the strength of that bond.
It’s why Blake leaving in vol 4-5 hurt both Yang and herself so much, hurt all of them, it’s why Weiss smuggled herself out of Atlas, it’s what drove Yang to seek out Raven, not to get answers but to get to Ruby. It’s what made Yanf breaking off in vol 8 so shocking and made the reunion at the manor pay off.
it’s what makes Ruby choosing Herself in vol 9 works, because all of them will choose to be together, and they will fight to do so. Every Time.
I think there might be some kind of Sonic fan to RWBY fan pipeline and vice versa. Like, if you were to make a Venn diagram with one side being Sonic fans and the other being RWBY fans, there'd be some kind of sizable overlap.
I say this because I've been a Sonic fan for a long time and got into RWBY around 7 years ago, and one of my friends who likes RWBY has been considering getting into Sonic because of me. So my theory is that if you like a series with colorful characters that do cool things in a sorta sci-fi world with a mainly rock music soundtrack, then chances are you'll like another series with those things.
