DIU | Ep18
ITâS DONEâŚâŚ.
I have no idea where this comic came from and I didnât even know how it was going to end when it started⌠so⌠Iâm sorry itâs bittersweet.
Chronologically I imagine it happened not long after this comic, where Sanji first realised his crush, and now heâs in WAY too deep.
I promise I will draw something happy and requited but for nowâŚ.. I sleep

if you can take hours doing art, writing, reading, making gifs on this app. you can take a minute to read this and then educate yourself.

Shout out to black nb folks that are fat/curvy and get misgendered on the regular. I see you, you're gender (or lack there of) is valid.
It's 2020 and everybody in they house. There should be no reason why nonblack/non POC artists are having trouble with skin tones. And yall can't keep using that 'it's just the lighting' as an excuse. Please go watch some fucking youtube tutorials from actual black artists.
So many POC artists have made tutorials galore. Black artists alone have made how many tutorials now, not just on skintone, but even concerning features and hair?? Theyâre readily available across Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest. GOOGLE. Thereâs no excuse at this point.
âItâs just lightingâ really is a lie at this point. Professional industries have their own problems with racism and colorism, absolutely. But you still see brown and Black models in fashion, and plenty of photoshoots and magazine spreads are a great way to study and play with color and lighting. Same applies to people who try and pull that âcolor paletteâ BS. If someone canât seem to find room for darker skintones in their pastel palettes, thatâs a them issue. Thereâs nothing to defend or excuse.
Everyoneâs rightfully impressed that âdefund/abolish the policeâ went from a fringe left-wing concept to a national talking point in like a week, but letâs not forget that the exact same thing happened to âmutual aidâ and then ârent strikeâ earlier this year. And now itâs rapidly happening to âautonomous zoneâ too!
The culture of youth in America has permanently changed this year. When crisis struck and capitalism and the state catastrophically failed them, anarchist tactics and ideas were there to take over. Everyoneâs seen first-hand how effective they can be, and now thereâs loads of solidarity infrastructure that didnât exist before to carry on this work into the future. This is huge, yâall
People are going out and pulling down racist statues with their friends and the state canât think of anything to say but âyeah those statues were awful but couldnât you have voted for people to take them down instead?â like bitch we DID
The public is waking up to the idea of seeing a problem in their community and fixing it ourselves, and the state canât do shit to counter that narrative. Theyâve always positioned themselves as the only solution to problems that canât otherwise be solved, so people discovering direct action is fatal to their legitimacy. They relied on shaping our minds from birth to see it as unthinkable, just not how things work, for it to never once cross our minds as we watch our neighbors die. So now the only case they can make for their continued existence is âwouldnât you rather do things the slower, less reliable, less effective way?â and no oneâs fucking hearing it anymore
This is irreversible. All we need to do now is stoke the flames, show people that we can do everything ourselves and we donât need the state at all
It turns out that when actually faced with the Purge the first thing we did was pull down racist statues.
Letâs just be clear, thoughâŚ
Just because voting has not been effective on itâs own to make the changes we desperately need in this country, doesnât mean we should throw that right away and ignore it.
In a battle, you keep and use every weapon you can carry. You donât toss a perfectly good sword in the dumpster because you happened to find a flame-thrower. I mean, sure, Flamey McBadass is more emotionally satisfying, but that doesnât make the sword worthless. Itâs still a fucking sword. Strap it to your belt and use it whenever you can.
Voting is the single most powerful action a citizen can take within this system. It is the means of tearing down a corrupt govt from inside itâs fortress walls, while continuing to attack it from the outside. Itâs another weapon in your arsenal. Use it. There is zero reason not to.
*Sorry for all the violent imagery, but given our situation, war feels like an appropriate metaphor.
You can both vote AND do other things. It doesnât have to be one or the other. In fact, it SHOULD be both. Everyone should be voting, but also, everyone who can should be doing more than JUST voting. We need more hands-on fixes, because voting isnât always enough. We need to vote because there are still circumstances in which thatâs exactly what is needed, and because hands-on work can be exhausting and we ought to save our energy for all of the battles that call for it- not the ones that can be won by just having enough people show up to press a few buttons.
I barely even mentioned voting in passing and yâall have somehow still managed to turn this into yet another post about voting, distracting from any other conversation we could be having here
This is such a good example of why I stop putting up with voting advocates. You wanna vote? How about you do it QUIETLY instead of writing essays under every political post that doesnât share your obsession with the ballot.
âVoting is the single most powerful action?â LMAO, I can think of a thousand more powerful actions. Paying for somebodies bail is more powerful. Sharing your car with your neighbor so she can take her kids on their first vacation in a decade is more powerful. Filling up potholes is more powerful. Volunteering at a shelter is more powerful.
PS: none of you fuckers actually do vote and riot or tear down statues either. Youâre âwe can do bothâ is just a way to avoid conflict while slapping your propaganda under every post we make. Nobodyâs fooled. We know that if youâd be at the protest, youâd most likely be nagging about voting there too.
Fuck voting advocates. And fuck US-based voting advocates double for defending that cop-loving, child-imprisoning, white supremacists sexual predator piece of shit.
