i love queerplatonic relationships where one of them is aroace and the other isn't. i love when the allo character has a crush that fades over time. i love when they don't care what they are to each other as long as they're together. i love when romance is an option that they don't choose. i love when both aros and allos feel fulfilled without romance or sex.
the meaning of life? is to make your bedroom as comfy as possible. that's it that's the purpose
the secondary purpose is to equip your kitchen and get really really really into international cuisine
THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS TO BE WELL-FED AND WELL-RESTED
Free service with ads: Well, if I'm not paying for it they have to foot the bill somehow.
Paid service with no ads: Well, if they're not funding it with ad revenue, they need to charge us something.
Paid service with ads: Well that's bullshit.
"We used to be a paid service without ads, but now we're putting ads in it! If you want the ad-free version you have to pay more for preeeeemium": Fuck you fuck you fuck you
Getting down on my knees and thanking the humans who invented dishwashers and washing machines.
InsNe that dishwashers are more efficient and easier than just washing them manually but they also use less water. It’s a win win situation
They ALSO sterilize dishes, due to operating at a far higher temperature than human hands could ever tolerate. It's a win every way.
Made this post about 15 minutes after the repair guy who fixed the pump on my dishwasher packed up his tools and left, as the dishwasher was whirring along doing my dishes from that morning.
He said the exact same thing, which I did not know before that, so spreading this knowledge.
Hi there hello, Johnathan Dishwasherington III here, the above is region specific. European dishwashers tend to run on cold water and have an internal heating unit. Running the hottest possible water will not affect a dishwasher connected to only your cold water tap.
Source: hooked up my dishwasher (european) last week.

gender essentialism is soooo funny bc it's like "this is what women are like" and you're like "I've met women and many of them, if not the majority, have not been like that" and it's like "well women SHOULD be like that" and you're like "why should women be like that" and its like "because that's what women are like"
In philosophy, this is called naturalization. Because we're trying to enforce something to the point that it becomes natural, under the pretense that is already is natural. Which is generally not how anything works.
Kant observed it in 1781, so it actually predates the more common use of the term today

So I’ve discussed before on this blog how my grandmother just refuses to drink water and now it’s landed her in the emergency room.
(She’s gonna be fine she’s just a little bit stupid)
I tried to get her daughter on the phone in order to yell at her for me but her daughter is on an international flight right now so I’ve gotta do it myself.
She almost fell over and I was like did you drink water today and she was like “well I had a tiny glass of juice with my pills”
Lady that is not water please for the love of holy Christ Jesus I’m trying to keep you alive here
Anyways all of you also drink water please especially if you have a health condition. It’s hot outside this time of year in the northern hemisphere.
Addition: Unless you were explicitly prescribed otherwise, only take your meds with water.
Not juice, not milk, not kool-aid or whatever. There is stuff in these!!
The way your body absorbs nutrients and whatever your meds contain is affected by what other stuff is nearby.
Examples: Citrus fruit (especially grapefruit) interferes with your body's ability to process a lot of drugs. It can inhibit absorption (rendering the drug useless) or metabolism (in which case too much drug remains in your system. this can be toxic.) The calcium in dairy also fucks with the absorption of a lot of meds, including antibiotics. If you are in need of an antibiotic, you do not want to dampen its effects.
If you are prescribed medication, the dosage is based on you taking them properly. Read: with water. Taking them with anything else (or on an empty/full stomach against recommendations) is equivalent to just throwing a handful of them in the air and taking however many land in your mouth.
please wear sunscreen!!! I've seen "fuck the beauty industrial complex" posts about complicated skincare regimens and am 100% with them except sometimes they mention sunscreen and no. no. absolutely not. sunscreen is a wonderful supportive friend who wants to keep you safe, and you should let her do it. throw out all your other cosmetics and skincare products if you want, but keep your sunscreen. and if you're not wearing sunscreen, start wearing it!!!! this is not about terror of aging, this is not about every tiny imperfection our fucked-up culture has made you feel insecure about, this is about protecting yourself from skin cancer. wear the damn sunscreen.
PLEASE!!
Climate change has made the sun more dangerous than it has ever been (in human history). You are exposed to more UV radiation than previous generations*. That is the stuff that gives you cancer.
Sunscreen is not optional. You go get yourself the good shit and use it. Also sunscreen is only good for a year, so don't use last years.
*possibly excluding people who use(d) tanning beds.
I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
Extending this by access to a phone and the Internet, as well as basic mobility in the area they live in
@sinnsenke couldn't leave this in the tags

Those shockingly high “illiteracy” statistics that go around aren’t saying that like 22% of Canadians or 21% of Americans or whatever literally can’t read.
That’s the number of people at level 1 literacy or below. Level 1 literacy is like grade school level. Able to read labels and straightforward instructions and whatnot.
Which is like. Still higher than the ideal for sure, but it’s not like a fifth of adults literally can’t read. They’re just kinda bad at it.
Those rates are also at like 18% in the UK and around 14% in Australia which is better for sure but it’s also not like this is a problem unique to North America.
Yeah those tests usually test English reading proficiency and there’s a lot of folks in this country both citizens and noncitizens who speak English as their second language or don’t speak it at all. There’s regions of this country that are almost entirely Spanish speaking so even native born citizens who went to American schools might not be able to read in English.

Next up someone is going to claim that the Narnia series isn't kids books.
Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.
"You read a 310-page book as a child?" is sending me.
Children's books tend to be in the 350 to 400 page area, if I recall correctly. The first Percy Jackson (which is explicitly aimed at children with ADHD and dyslexia) is 430ish pages. I don't want to bring up that book series but it is among the most read by children and even the shortest one was a good bit over 300. I wanna say 350 but I refuse to look it up. And then obviously the 5th was that massive thing with over 1000 words. Quality aside, children are very much capable of reading long books. It's kinda insane to assume they aren't?
life pro tip for all women is use products marketed towards men because the only difference is they work better
women's deodorant creators are not yet fully aware women also get extremely sweaty, for example
lmao just now finding out this is because apparently men's deodorant sticks to armpit hair better. so they were just out here assuming women had perfectly shaved armpits 24/7 I guess
