Honestly as someone who thinks that endos are people who either don’t remember their trauma or don’t register the trauma they went through as actually being trauma or being ‘bad’ enough to make them a system, I don’t trust anti-endos for a few reasons.
The main one is that well… the brain is complicated and these things are not widely known or understood! Systemhood is a large spectrum, I myself didn’t know median systems were a thing and thought I wasn’t traumatized enough to BE a system despite displaying traits of it.
By anti endo logic I don’t think I would ‘count’ as a system, yes I remember my trauma and acknowledge I have it, but as a median system I am missing ‘key’ traits of systemhood. My ‘masks’ aren’t really distinct, they’re all me and I remember everything, yes I dissociate at times and when a mask appears I can’t control it, but they’re all still me, I don’t ‘switch’ the way other people do, I don’t have a headspace, I’m missing a lot of experiences.
If someone claims to be an endo system and it turns out they just do not remember their trauma, telling them ‘no you aren’t a system’ isn’t going to help, if they can’t remember it’s likely they are not in a space where remembering is safe, and taking away a term that can help them understand themselves will just make them feel like they’re ’crazy in a bad way/a way that cannot be defined’. I struggled with that a lot myself before I learned what median systems are!
Yes there will be fakeclaimers, yes there will be people who are misinformed, but being anti-endo feels more harmful than not, because it sort of demands that people be open about their trauma and understand their trauma on a level not everyone is ready to be at.
Like, I’m autistic as well, it pisses me off when people act like autism is some quirky thing, but I’m never gonna tell someone they aren’t actually autistic because they don’t fit certain criteria, especially not when being in a community with other autistic people and having a label helps them.
Furthermore the scrutiny towards endos can lead to people being afraid to explore themselves, again I’m an example, because I don’t experience systemhood in a ‘traditional’/the way I saw people online experience it, I was scared to even talk about certain aspects of my trauma because I was worried I’d be yelled at for doing something wrong.
I am not saying you need to believe it is actually fully possible to be endo, hell I myself am a firm believer that endos are, as I said before, people who either can’t remember their trauma or don’t understand that what they went through was trauma/bad enough, but as a rule of thumb, I don’t trust you if you label yourself as anti-endo instead of endo-neutral at LEAST.
