have recently realised I actually don't like being called a fag (or any of its derivatives - 'transfag' etc) at all. been thinking about where this comes from and I guess I a) I just don't think that's what I'm doing with my presentation or gender or sexuality. I feel way too autistic in a way that just doesn't give 'fag', b) I have and do experience homophobic street harassment with that word a lot (incl in my straight relationships, because splashback transmisogyny). it doesn't feel like a fun identity word because my primarily association is fearing for my safety/that of my partners, and c) it feels degendering rather than gender affirming tbh? I think that might be because I starting transitioning nearly 20 years ago and also I hang out with many women who are fags. it doesn't feel like a novelty to assert myself as a queer man and tbh 'fag' doesn't even really feel like asserting myself as a man really. if anything it feels like kinda the opposite - it's gender neutral to me in the way 'queer' is

I do have a lot of criticisms of the 'fujos dni' school of queer manhood that are more genuine (I have rarely seen somebody care about fujos that wasn't a barely out trans guy wanting to distance himself from women and dipping into misogyny to do it because he feels insecure and like he needs to police gender to defend himself). but also it's my bisexual right to want a woman to sexualise me making out with other men (and most of the women I want to do that are women of fag experience themselves)

I think for me, the difference between trans chasers and chubby chasers (as somebody at the intersection of those types of interest) is that it is far more likely a chubby chaser is interested in the fact I am fat in and of itself, rather than using it as a proxy for something else. in theory, I think somebody (maybe even a cis somebody) could genuinely be interested in trans people and have that not imply anything... but realistically, if somebody approaches me because I'm a trans man 99% of the time they're doing it because they think that inherently implies something else about me. that might be the genitals I have, what sex acts I'm willing to do, what my body looks like generally (esp re things like body hair, muscularity, etc), what sexual roles I am willing to take on, or even what kind of treatment I am willing to put up with in relationships. and I'd push that to functionally 100% of the time with cis people tbqh (even if once or twice it has been treated as proxy for something I don't mind, like 'has very big toys to top with')

there absolutely are chubby chasers into fatness because they see it as proxy for something else (e.g. low self esteem, 'slobbishness', etc) and I think those people can fuck off. but my fatness exists as a material thing that is experienced physically in sex in a way my transness... isn't? and that's not to say my transness isn't important to me or that the social side of sex isn't an equal part of it, but they aren't really a 1:1. maybe I'd feel differently if I fit the normalised transmasc sexual script (boyish/effeminate non-bottom surgery sub PIV bottom, often slim + young + hairless), but my transness honestly feels less relevant to the experience of fucking me than my fatness does, even if I don't have cis male passing genitals

I guess I don't think 'seeing transness as proxy for something else' is inherently bad - I'm mostly t4t in part because I recognise I am likely to have experiences in common with other trans people. but I'm also way more picky within that (even on the 'having similar trans experiences to me' axis). and hot take it may be, I don't think t4t is immune from chaser behaviour
