Guest Commentary: Romain Ponsart (French Figure Skater)

Anne Boyer: Despite being the third best skater in the world, Shoma Uno lost his place and fell from the skating ranks about a season and a half ago, but through Stephane Lambiel’s guide he is steadily improving. Since the olympic season he has been more confident in his skate. A two-time silver medalist, he ended up 4th two years ago, and last Thursday he ranked 6th in the short program. (SP) If he can perform well at the level he is at, a place in the stage/podium is not far from reach.

Today let’s see what Shoma looks like as he performs “Dancing on my own”.

Anne Boyer: Spectacular!! Shoma Uno! Today’s last group performance was the first time these three japanese appeared together. Shoma Uno gave a wonderful performance! This extraordinary free program was accomplished by these Japanese, Romain!

Romain Ponsart:  Ahhh, it really was superb, I mean the skating. I think it's a program that suits him very well.

Anne Boyer: I’m surprised and amazed. That’s true, he really did do his best. And it went off beautifully. He was so happy he jumped into his coach, Stephane Lambiel’s  arms.  

Romain Ponsart: In his first Quadruple Salchow jump (4S), he slightly landed on both of his feet, and after that there was a slight error in his toe loop. Nonetheless, he had other very important elements, such as the 4F and 3A-Eu-3F.

Anne Boyer: (While watching the replay) That’s right, the quadruple program was a really stunning combination

Romain Ponsart: In this 4S, he leaned his back a bit which caused his feet to land and lost a few points. But the 4F was amazing. I think there was a small error in the toe loop here, wait, this is actually okay. This will also add bigger points. And, this one’s a very big combination.

Anne Boyer: Yeah it’s a 3A-Eu-3F.

Romain Ponsart; And then after a 3S3T combination was done. No, really I think this performance could get a high score.

Anne Boyer: Yes, the technicality is amazing. (After this, they talked about Kévin Aymoz)

Romain Ponsart: What will the score for this combination be in the second half of the program?

Anne Boyer: Well there are risks but if you do it well you’ll get a big score. This duo is really doing well, Stephane Lambiel and Shoma Uno.

Hi! I haven’t been that updated with sou but i asked a friend (thanks lee!!!)regarding this and she said that last christmas kurokumo and sou uploaded a cover together and apparently it wasn’t taken in the positive light by some fans. Some people sent kurokumo lots of hate messages and since they’re both highschool students it’s natural that they’ll feel upset after all those heart breaking messages. Sou’s really bothered by all this since it’s his first time to receive so much hate he feels really bothered. Kurokomo went out and apologized and thanked her other fans who still supported her. Meanwhile Sou is really unsettled and he tweeted stuff like waiting before uploading again and before deciding to write up a blogpost with his reply to the issue.
