“How do they sleep?”
Like this!
Wooden headrests elevate the neck and head to ensure elaborate braids, beads, and cowrie shells remain pristine and protected from dust and the ground. Elevating the head off the ground in semi-arid Sahel regions also helps improve airflow and keeps the sleeper cooler during the night.
Headrests are apparently used in a lot of regions of Africa. Here’s a Mwila woman demonstrating hers:

I love your art so much! There's such a charm in your style and colors. How did you learn to draw children and babies so well? I try but they never quite look right. They just look like I messed up an adult face. Any tips?
hey, thank you so much!!! tbh, children are tricky and it took years of practice before i felt like i drew them okay--hopefully these tips are helpful to you!
using georgia and her much younger self as a guide: children have big heads in relation to their bodies, with their features mostly relegated to 2/3 or even 1/2 of the face, depending on the art style. babies and toddlers in particular almost always have large foreheads and big cheeks, no matter what their individual features are.
my children tend to lean more cherubic and cartoonish because i've always adored how rose o'neill, the creator of kewpie dolls, drew children and babies. great big eyes, small noses and mouths, etc.
that being said: as you can see with georgia above, her younger self still has fuller lips and a wider nose, they're just small in proportion to the rest of her head, if that makes sense!
This is why Pride is not just a party. It's a joyful celebration, but it's also a pointed and colourful two-finger salute to a world that stood back whilst so many of us died. And we'll never go quietly, never again.

A humanitarian call that cannot be postponed‼️Farah is in the hands and hearts of the merciful… a final urgent plea to save a small body that is collapsing.💔
🚨 We urgently need €700 for treatment and medication.
🛑Move for her tears and screams that she does not realize because of her autism🥹🙏🏻
💔 It is heartbreaking to see all of this in such a small body—severe potassium deficiency and its complications, muscle weakness, possible kidney complications, neurological symptoms requiring sedatives, and painful skin ulcers.
Doctors informed us that the infection has gone beyond the skin and is now deepening, with a risk of reaching the bones.
💔 My child does not deserve this and cannot endure more.
🙏 Please have mercy on her. Your donation or sharing could ease her suffering and save her from further decline.🥹💔
Note: if you would prefer to pay via paypal, you can do so here.
✅️Vetted by @gazavetters, my number verified on the list is ( #451 )✅️
Farah still needs help!! Please try to donate whatever you can!!! Right now anything we can do can help Farah get the medication she needs!!! Even if you can’t donate, please keep sharing her campaign so that it can reach more people! Please don’t forget about her and don’t look away!!
🟥Because life does not wait and pain does not have mercy, my child, Farah, is in critical condition. Doctors warn of a serious risk of the infection reaching her bones and blood due to the viral infections she has contracted. Every delay increases the risk. 🙏 Your donation or participation could save her life.🙏🏻🥹
€8,524 / €15,000. only 2 donations in the past 24 hours, only 4 donations in the past week
🔴 Farah is in real danger — delay is not an option Farah's life is in the hands of compassionate hearts🙏🏻🥹
please, please donate and share
🙏🏻We are deeply grateful to everyone who donated, shared, or even reposted…Your support is the light Farah is holding on to in her journey toward treatment Thank you to every heart that chose to be a reason for hope 🤍 This is an urgent need of €700 for Farah’s treatment🙏🏻🥹🙏🏻
Please do not ignore Farah! Please donate, or at least share as much as possible so that her story may reach those able to spare! Just a little movement, a little shift can help this child receive the help she needs!!!!!!
Note: if you would prefer to pay via paypal, you can do so here.
💔Thank you to everyone who has not ignored Farah’s suffering — time is not on her side💔😭
I truly think the “proship” and “antiship” labels have eroded the ability to properly discuss the complex topics of fantasy, reality and the ethics of how to portray things in fiction.
Instead you get put into a camp and your camp is the correct one and the other group is evil and immoral and deserves death. Real thoughtful analysis is being swept away by this in-group/out-group nonsense.
For a while I felt afraid to even talk about how what you want to read in a fictional fantasy is different from what is acceptable in reality because that would mean “you support abuse”. And on the other side god forbid you criticize a trope for being racist because “it’s just fiction.”
Somehow I think… Both fiction exists as a separate space and there should be spaces in which to engage in taboo subject matter without the constraints of reality AND fictional portrayals are not free from being scrutinized and analyzed through a critical lens. Does this make me.. a shipping centrist?

Transgender woman faces two felony charges after drawing a firearm during an altercation.
A Wyoming transgender woman is facing two felony charges after drawing a firearm during an altercation she says began with anti-LGBTQ+ and a
Ríhanna Kelver, a bartender and trans rights advocate in Laramie, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent after a 13 September 2025 confrontation outside the Crowbar & Grill, whereshe worked. Kelver could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison if convicted on both charges.
Kelver says one man in a group of men across the street from her started shouting homophobic and transphobic insults at her before the man allegedly shoved her to the ground in a downtown crosswalk, as reported by The Laramie Reporter.
There's more, as it pertains to Black trans people's right to self-defence:
Despite Wyoming’s “Stand Your Ground” statute, which allows people to use reasonable force in moments of self defense, Kelver faces up to 15 years in prison for both charges, as well as up to $11,000 in fines, per Cowboy State Daily. Kelver faces an additional year and $1,000 fine for a charge of interference with a peace officer. [...]
As pointed out by Slate, self-defense laws are often put into question when people from marginalized communities, especially trans people, use them, including Cece McDonald, a Black trans woman who served time in a men’s prison for defending her friends during a racist and transphobic attack. Ky Peterson, a Black trans man from Georgia, was also arrested and imprisoned for killing his rapist in self-defense.
Learning this was an intentional genocide changed me.
I know most of those following me know this, but just to make it super clear. An Gorta Mór (The Great Hunger/the Great Famine) was a deliberate genocide of the Irish people. There was enough food grown in Ireland to make sure everyone was alive and healthy and survived. Instead it was exported, sent to England and elsewhere for profit while men, women, and children starved in the streets. While the English landlords fucked off and evicted starving families who couldn’t afford rent. While babies were too weak to cry and died at the side of the road.
They tried to kill us, but they did not succeed. And we owe so much thanks to the other oppressed peoples, in particular the Choctaw Nation and the Masai, who sent money and grain to us.
Let me repeat that. The Choctaw Nation who had just gone through the Trail of Tears sent us money to try save Irish lives. It’s led to an understanding between Irish people and Native American tribes, most recently when we donated to the Navajo and Hopi fundraisers for COVID-19 relief, because while it may be a different tribe, Irish people will never forget those who helped us and we’ll help back.
The entire population of the island is less than seven million people. We’re still a million less on this island than pre famine. And it’s not that long ago. My grandmother’s grandparents lived through it. We’ve told the stories, it literally changed the DNA of the country. We have a national fear of renting, because so many people were evicted. People joke about Irish people always offering loads of food, but it’s because there’s that cultural memory of not being able to.
They tried to kill us, but they did not succeed. We will not let them take our lives, we will not let them take our language. We lost so much, but we will not lose it all.
This is why I get so angry when people say “it was the potato famine, it was because of monoculture/microbes.”
Nope. The potatoes were the only thing Irish people were allowed to fucking eat, because as pointed out, the rest of the crops they were growing were for their landlords to ship to England. So when the one “worthless” crop they were allowed to eat rotted in the field, the English crown, empire, landlords, all shrugged and carried on. People starved to death lying next to productive fields.
