Remember the 5th of november

hey netizens! i'm not sure how many people are aware, but youtube's been slowly rolling out a new anti-adblock policy that can't be bypassed with the usual software like uBlock Origin and Pi-Hole out of the gate

BUT, if you're a uBlock Origin user (or use an adblocker with a similar cosmetics modifier), you can add these commands in the uBlock dashboard (under My Filters) to get rid of it!

A couple of things to point out:

- Cas says “if I loved this world that much, it’s only because of you” instead of “I cared about the whole world because of you”

- Dean says “don’t do this TO ME” instead of “Don’t do this Cas”

- Cas says “the one and only thing that I want” instead of “the one thing I want”

- They’ve used the term “transformed” instead of “changed”, which changes “you changed me Dean” into “you’ve transformed me, Dean”

- The name they chose in French for this episode is La Mort aux Trousses, which can be translated to “Death on our tails”, “Death on our trail”, “Death on our heels”. La Mort aux Trousses is also the French translated name of Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest

- Dean doesn’t say “why are you telling me this now”, he says “why are you only telling me this now” (Pourquoi tu ne me dis ça que maintenant). The literal translation would’ve been ‘Pourquoi tu me dis ça maintenant" but they’ve added the 'only’ (which, fine, I guess it was implied, BUT THEY FULLY DECIDED TO ADD IT IN TEXT)

- They’ve changed” because the one thing I want, it’s something I know I can’t have" into "the one and only thing that I want, I know for a fact that I can’t have it"

- "Happiness isn’t in the having, it’s in the being. It’s in just saying it" has been changed into “It’s not about wanting happiness, it’s only about being happy… It’s about expressing your happiness”

- One of the changes that I love the most out of this whole scene, they’ve translated ‘daddy’s blunt instrument’ into “le bras armé de ton père’, which translates to “the armed wing of your father” or “the military arm of your father”. Fitting, uh?

- I don’t know if we’ve pointed it out already, but Cas’ “for love” actually translates into “in the name of love”. If I had to translate the original dialog, I’d have translated with “par amour”, not “au nom de l'amour”. It’s WAY more romantic to says 'au nom de l'amour’.

- I think I’ve said this one already but instead of “knowing you has changed me” he says “you’ve changed my whole life” which in itself isn’t that much different but the term “bouleverser” implies that whatever happened upset some natural form of what was supposed to happen

- The thing that @dotthings​ pointed out earlier about "because you cared, I cared". It’s worse than what we figured out actually; he links it to the sentence before, which is “Knowing you has changed me” (“because you cared, I cared). In the french dub, it actually translates to "You’ve changed my whole life, because I felt like you cared about me, and I did too.” Which implies that Cas not only knew that Dean cared about him, but that Dean’s care about him is what ultimately changed him. 

- "But if I loved this world so much, it’s solely thanks to you" instead of “i cared about the whole world because of you”. I used 'only’ to translate that sentence before, but 'solely’ is more appropriate in that case.

- I know some people lost it because he says “Castiel” twice (“Don’t do this to me, Castiel”, and then he says “Castiel” again after the Empty appears while he’s turned to look at him for the last time) but he does the same in VO but he says Cas. Which he never does in French, they don’t use Cas at all (I don’t have an official explanation for this apart from the fact that in French, Cas sounds like “casse” which is the verb “break” in English).

‘tenir à quelqu’un’ is maybe closest to ‘holding someone dear’ in english and what does that get us?? ‘parce que j’ai senti que tu tenais à moi, et que moi aussi je tenais à toi’ = ‘because i felt that you held me dear, and that i held you dear in return’

as a french person, let me explain to you one thing : we have several words to say to someone we love them : je t’aime bien/beaucoup : i like you je t’adore : i love you (platonic) je t’aime : i love you (romantic, you can use it with very closed ones but here, the way he said it, it is romantic)

also, cas said “because i felt you cared about me, i care about you too” THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER!!!!! i’m losing my shit

AND FINALLY - dean said “don’t do this to me, cas” TO ME !!!! LIKE !!!!!!!

can we now agree this confession was everything but platonic? :)
