people talk abt jason like he was light yagami levels of evil "we should kill every criminal + im a god glaze me" vibes when really he was more daredevil coded or hawkmoth type threat. were his methods the best? no, they were drafted by a mentally unstable 19-year-old, at best. not saying hes a saint but for fucks sake he wasnt the devil. what makes him interesting, to me, IS the confusion around his moral compass. i love discourse about that, its just that some people keep parroting his rules around women and children and drugs and using them as the leading reason to hate him when like. the rule was simply dont sell to children, whatever, bare minimum. "dont sell to kids, got it?" thats exactly what he said. thats cool. im aware selling drugs in general is bad, im also aware that cutting off an addicts supply so suddenly and completely, in an environment where help might not be accessible, is ALSO bad. so im not that fussed abt him letting drug sales continue to adults, because he still did more about it than anyone else in his own weird stupid way. basically hes not the spawn of satan, hes a dude who does some cool things and some uncool things and some stupid things like most comic book characters are known to do. hes classified as a neutral character, so hes not even a real villain, which i also think is kinda cool since i havent seen a lot of characters consider themselves and be considered neutral

there was this lesson in high school where we were given a text and told to analyze it from the perspective of the author. why did they have this character do this, say that, wear those shoes, drive that car? and im starting to feel like a lot of people missed that day in class. just because an author writes a character a certain way, doesnt mean thats their truth. we gotta wonder why they did it that way. and when it comes to arguments against jason, it takes about five minutes to research his writers and realize they deadass just hate him. they dont try to hide it, they write him bc they hate him and they want others to hate him. because of that its not a jump to deem those comics unreliable, theyre as biased as i am in the opposite direction. why would i listen to this persons opinion of a character when moments before they explicitly told me they hated that character? sure, ill read the text and ill try my best to keep an open mind, im just ALSO gonna be aware that its written by a person who WANTS to make my opinion of this character negative. and his writers have been doing this since starlin when jason was literally a middle schooler. theres no reason to hate a middle schooler that much, and that bad writing has stacked ever since
