“I know you were trying to protect us, but if there’s a next time, I’d appreciate being more in the loop about what’s going on.” 

“Love….” he sighs, slightly embarrassed and certainly chastened. “There was a pack of wendigo. I only just found out this afternoon and if I missed one it would have followed me home. I didn’t want you to worry,” he admits softly. “I’m sorry.” Carefully shifting the injured limb, he nibbles at his lower lip worriedly. “Are you terribly angry with me?”

“’Terribly angry’?” Dimmock chuckles, smiling slightly as he begins working on the injury now, making sure it’s fully cleaned and closed up. “No, that’s a bit much. A little hurt, yes, and disappointed. I thought the only secrets we really kept at this point were surprise parties. Besides-” 

He gives a small nod of apology, realizing that he had left this out of previous conversations because he’s forgotten about this incident until now, 

“I’ve faced a Wendigo once, a long time ago. They are truly the stuff of nightmares. Not that I don’t think you couldn’t face them alone, because you’re an angel, you absolutely have that power, but if I knew what you were facing, it’d put me more at ease.”

He finishes up his work and gives the leg a small pat. After cleaning off his hands, he cups his husband’s face tenderly.

“No, no, no, you’re not supposed to be home,” the battered angel sighs. “Damn it Iain, when I send you to the manor with the children, don’t drop them off and come back!” The bath water is pink, swirls of blood still leaking in fits and spurts from his thigh where stitches mostly close the curving gash upon it.

He sighs, admits, “Alright, I could maybe use a little help. Still! If I send you to the manor it means it’s not safe at home!” He tries to glare, but gods he’s exhausted and aching.

Dimmock sighs and kneels beside the tub, surveying the damage. He knows he should remain stoic, but he can’t help but be disappointed.

Susan felt a presence behind her. She whirled around and growled as she laid eyes on Lune.
