okay actually though, these three shows are so good.
The World is Dancing has a pretty basic plot (little boy learns that dancing is cool), but the animation is SO experimental and interesting! it made me feel real human emotions.
Sayonara, Lara is the Little Mermaid but anime. episode one is basically a recap of the Disney movie, but extremely well animated with a hot femme fatale design for the witch. as of the episode's end, we're in uncharted territory, and it could get very weird and interesting?
and A Witch in Mongolia is about a slave girl who gets caught up in a Mongolian raid, who has to use her education to advance herself. it's stylized in such a unique way. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. no clue where it's going, but I can already highly recommend!
Three bookmarks requested by a friend long ago. I didn't find them particularly good, but I thought the techniques used to create them were interesting including the gradient washes and the blend of watercolour and gouache.
Paper ~ Arches 100% cotton/ 300 GSM
Brush ~ Escoda Optimo liner/ Rosemary & Co detail brushes / Silver Black Velvet rounds/ Da Vinci Petit Gris Pur mop

there's this one gay porn studio i'm subscribed to email updates for just because i am never prepared for what each email contains
pretentious gay sluts i am very fond of you
We really are never going to stop stripping this land bare
those mountains are older than Saturn's rings and they want to blow them up and hollow them out for cell phone batteries
i don't know if folks outside these mountains understand what a state these communities are left in after being ravaged by the coal and steel industries. they endured well over 100 years of paternalistic brutality to provide the resources that built america with nothing in return and that very much informs the culture and collective psyche. force fed opiates to undermine labor movements and hard-won unions after decades of horrific abuse at isolated company towns. living there you can feel how we're all just one giant open wound that can't heal.
if bringing in corporations to mine raw materials from the appalachian mountains was good for the community, appalachia would be known for how happy, healthy, and wealthy the people are.
I wish I could make white people(and not just white Americans) understand how diverse the pre-columbian Americas were. The history, religion, culture, politics was at least as complex as Europe's. There was the full gamut of religions, from monotheists to animists to ancestral religions. There were city building empires, village farmers, nomadic traders, and so many other ways to live. This is all just based on what we know, the fragments left behind and the stories of survivors of an apocalyptic plague. All this before the most extended campaign of genocide in history was waged in an attempt to wipe out those survivors.
Over 500 years spent trying to cut down a whole trunk of human culture.
Do you understand how much poorer our whole species is because of it? Can you imagine where art, religion, and science would be if we still had these vast bodies of knowledge? The stain of the colonial project will never be fully washed clean. We owe more than just the land to those we stole from. We owe them a whole future, a future that could have been brighter for all of us. If only greed and fear weren't allowed to rule this land.
Working an office job will truly make you have the wildest enemies, bc why is my nemesis rn a woman I’ve never met and who exclusively haunts me by sending diabolical emails, and also a specific guy who left my company before I even worked here and made the system so fuckass that it ruined procedures for like a year
Yesterday my nemesis (woman I’ve never met and whose face I’ve never seen) sent my office an email so rude, basically saying we had fucked up every project she ever ordered from us, one of the worst emails I’ve ever read in my life.
And it pissed me off so badly that I spent the ENTIRE WORK DAY today compiling evidence from every project my team has ever done for her, pulling past emails she’d sent us, putting together an entire case proving that she had been the problem all along. That she got projects mixed up, that she’d made requests that were nonsensical, literally everything you could possibly imagine. Screenshots of emails, reports we’d submitted, EVERYTHING.
This woman in particular has been terrorizing my team for years, her name is almost a slur in my office, I had simply had ENOUGH of her.
I put all of this evidence together and sent it to all of my bosses at 4:30pm. Then I took a long break to eat a sweet treat and drink some tea.
After my break, my bosses all called in an emergency meeting with me and they said they read my report and fucking loved it. And I sat on a teams call with my boss’ boss as she wrote my nemesis the scathing email I had always fantasized about sending, using the evidence I’d compiled, and hit send.
It was the most satisfying workday I’ve had since I got hired.

Count Binface oozes more confidence and charisma in this 52 second clip than Farage ever has in his entire life and I'm actually going to be genuinely upset if he doesn't win.
Gennady Dobrov – Farewell glance (1982)
The artist conceived the painting "Farewell Look" to immortalize the story of his own sister. A pianist, she married a violinist, a graduate of the same conservatory. However, the musician failed to manage his talent or his life wisely. He began drinking heavily and eventually became a complete alcoholic. His wife took their daughter and left him. Dobrov depicted this very moment in his painting. [...] From the memoirs of Gennady Dobrov: I approached Boris Georgievich Lukyanov, the editor of the magazine "Artist." He looked at "A Farewell Look" and said, "No, Gena, we can't just show your painting like that. The editorial board members are against it, the Union secretaries are against it too... Sergei Petrovich Tkachev brought a delegation of the Komsomol Central Committee to the painting while it was being hung and complained, "We tell him, 'Take the axe out of the alcoholic's hands,' but he doesn't!" He also forbade television crews from approaching it. And he said to me, "You probably think your painting is brilliant? No, no, no, my dear fellow. We don't need that kind of realism." I filed an appeal... It didn't help. "Farewell Look" was first displayed at the spring exhibition in the Begovaya Street exhibition hall in 1984. The painting caused a sensation, and the number of visitors to the exhibition grew daily. (source)
