I think that experience shaped him more than he will ever realize. His ability to compartmentalize and put others needs before his own started there. Also, you cannot tell me that Halsin only wants physical relationships. He expects people to be physically attracted to him and welcomes it, but the shock and relief when you go with him to rebuild Reithwin betrays his desire to be loved, wanted, and dare I say understood.

And the fact that Halsin is still able to love and care for so many all at once, be it polyamory, be it people he comes to see as his family, be it people under his guidance and care, hell even lowlife goblins that want him dead, is a fucking miracle and it makes me want to weep.
