I honestly can't remember what the last song I listened to all the way through was. I don't just listen to Spotify. I also listen to the regular radio in my car, CD's in my car, the music that LA Fitness plays, the music that the stores I shop at play, music on TV shows and in movies, music from other peoples' cars, music I hear ny dad listening to, lol. But I'm beginning to get really mad at the radio stations. They keep cutting songs off super early. It could be a great song and have an amazing instrumental ending and they'll cut it off at the last word. One day it was like a minute early almost, lol. Unbelievable. Really ticked off at them.
I think the very last song that I heard all the way through was
'Like a Rolling Stone' by Bob Dylan
at the very end of 'A Complete Unknown'. I watched it yesterday or the day before. But that's the last full song that I truly listened to that I can remember the name. They actually played some decent songs at the gym the other night and I was impressed. They stopped playing only dance, hip hop, or top 40. They'll even play a classic here or there.

Wow. I have no idea. It was so long ago. It was probably Farmville like 16 or 17 years ago? Lol. No! I remember.
It was this weird kids' game I played with my ex-boyfriend's nephew one time where you tried to injure your character as much as possible.
It was like, 'Seriously? That's the goal?', lol. I was great at it. I guess I'm good at hurting myself. I have always been a klutz, lol. I'm not a big gamer. I do enjoy a board game occasionally, lol.

This is just me putting down my thoughts about how cosmic horror influences the world of TMA, and how the Dread Powers interact with it. This is a non-extensive list, and I may come back and update this.
First I want to discuss cosmic horror itself. Cosmic horror is my favorite type of horror, for reasons I'll get into later, but for now I just want to discuss what it is. Cosmic horror is the fear that you are nothing compared to the large uncaring all powerful universe, usually represented through a god. It's a bit more, but for my purposes today, that will do.
Next we need to discuss it's place in TMA. TMA itself is cosmic horror, we can see that with the Fears. That's literally their whole job, to be larger and more powerful than us mortals, and to care about us only to feed themselves. Most of the statements, on the other hand, aren't. The fear of worm lady isn't cosmic horror. The grand uncaring universe doesn't care if you're scared of spiders.
However, some of the fears themselves are. The main two I'll be discussing today are The Vast (my personal favorite) and The Slaughter (the one I'm most scared of). Of course, The Web and The Eye also lend themselves well to cosmic horror, but not as well as these two (in my opinion).
I'll start with my favorite, and the one that's a bit easier to grasp. The fear of The Vast in TMA is just cosmic horror. It's practically just a one to one copy of the definition I'm using of cosmic horror. You are small and insignificant, nothing you do or say could matter to the immense uncaring universe, your life has no value or impact on the stars millions of miles away, or even on the ocean floor.
And that mirrors exactly why I love cosmic horror, and The Vast is my favorite dread power (the fact I've almost drowned multiple times surely has nothing to do with this). I view it as a freedom rather than a horror. So what if I don't get this job? The stars don't care about that. What if I die unaccomplished, having done nothing of value of this earth? It doesn't matter to whatever lives in the deep ocean.
Now we turn our view to The Slaughter, with particular emphasis on war. This gets more political, but still true. Take another look at my base description of cosmic horror through a political lens. As a reminder "Cosmic horror is the fear that you are nothing compared to the large uncaring all powerful universe, usually represented through a god." Now if the government didn't immediately pop into your head, you didn't read if politically enough. Especially during war time. The government, to whom you are no more than a statistic, sends you off to die an ultimately meaningless death.

Now as to why the two Dread Powers who, in my eyes, best represent cosmic horror, are literally on opposite sides of the spectrum of how much I like the Fears. One of them says that the universe doesn't care how you live your life, which I view as a blessing, as it telling me I can do whatever I want. The other says that how you live your life, and even your life itself, doesn't matter to other humans. One is comforting, and one is terrifying.
