Actually, yeah, what's up with that. It doesn't really make sense to me that Trollans can make each other out since I feel that lessens the impact of how face reveals are an intimate action, but yeah, it's bizarre how Orko's reaction to seeing accurate interpretations of himself is being scared.

The Quest for Power:  This one’s by thew40, who has written a lot of motu fanficiton in general basically wrote an entire saga of motu fic from start to finish. In this one Skeletor realizes how powerful Orko is and kidnaps him.

No Place Like Home: Orko very suddenly gets dragged back to Trolla and some friends come with him.

Dark Magic: There’s only one chapter of this, but the premise is interesting.

But think about it: Adam is the only heir, for the most part of most canons.  If something happens to him, the entire kingdom will be plunged into a succession crisis of varying proportions depending on who exists in the lore.  Understandably, the king and queen would prioritize their son over their close subjects (as cold as that may sound) and order every one of them to die for him if need be, and maybe even prioritize him over themselves as well, if worse comes to worse.

This is most obvious with Teela and Duncan, as it’s basically their jobs to protect the royal family.  Kind of muddled by the fact that they’re close enough to the point they would have protected them anyways, but still a royal duty.  Failing that, the responsibility would be handed to whoever happens to be closest, like one of the other masters or close members of the royal staff.  Despite being basically adopted into the family, Cringer and Orko would fall into this category, and would be expected to readily sacrifice themselves if they have to.  This is why it always kinda irked me that the 200x scene where Orko gets shot trying to protect He-Man is just brushed off as “haha funny shenanigans” and Orko was treated as in the wrong for just throwing himself into danger without a second thought to protect someone he was probably ordered to protect if no one else was available!!!  

Like Randor and Marlena know that their subjects are supposed to sacrifice themselves,but in the heat of the moment are they going to be thinking about that, or are they going to think ‘my loved one is in danger and I need to help them.’ We know that they’re ‘supposed’ to let people close die for them but I think especially Marlena would have a hard time actually doing it, given that she was not raised with this in mind.

(Now I’m imagining a scene where Randor is like ‘your king ORDERS YOU to run!’ and the other character just ignores him and sacrifices themself. Ow)
