Aside from the January tradition that Filipinos have, where they go on barefoot on a long procession, they also do the same on a Good Friday like this.
I'm 23 and will soon turn 24. One night last week, I was walking around the mall waiting for my company. There I realized that it's been a while since I did the same thing. I usually go to the mall having what I want to get in mind. Right on target, I buy it, and leave. I have chased my dreams, in bullseye. I'm a professor at 23, and I reached this by learning how to get out of the box. I could say that I am ahead of my career and I'm lucky to be given the chance to juggle the path on one hand. . But I realized, career success isn't everything that could make you happy. At some point in your life, you would come to look at what you've accomplished and realize that there should be a reason for all your accomplishments. Without any reason, you may not be able to wholly find your purpose. My thoughts drive down to one thing, like my photo, where I am illegally sitting on a cart, I need someone who will help me push myself and grow with me. I'm not looking for any mediocre leveled relationship. Since I chose not to, things may get a little uneasy from here. My options may be unlimited but I need to be really meticulous with my decisions. I may not be celebrating the valentines day with someone today, but hopefully I would in the future. If not next year, I hope when it comes, it's worth the wait. In God's plan, through His grace let's all keep the faith.
In a day like this, all I want to be is with you.
Truth is, I want to be with you everyday. I know it's not workable and we have responsibilities, but I just want express the feeling that I want to see you more often.
Whenever I think of you, I couldn't help but want my hand to fill the spaces in between your fingers. I want to make this simple way of touch make you feel assured. I want to seal my lips to yours and breathe through the things I couldn't tell with my words. I want to tower over and wrap my arms around you. So that you know, someone's here for whatever days may bring you. I want to walk with you farther. Submitting slowly, one foot over the other.
We are still getting to know each other, and this makes me want to learn who you are even more. I don’t know what the future may bring, but I hope you lend your hands and trust me. I will hold you tight.
R to R.
How I like you is a mystery. My heart tells that love for me could be either life giving or deadly. Everyday I face a delirious emotional trek from uphill to downhill. Things get harder when I realize that I have to go through uncertainties. These parts remind me why I despise things that doesn't go my way. Although you sound like seraphs from above, your voice has the power to speak knell to mine ears. It takes over me. It could take the whole of me. There you go, you're one big mistake, but I let you. It's driving me a little crazier than usual. I ask myself why. I favor you so much that my heart couldn't answer against it.

Raniel Escolta, Manila
He isn't really ready for your truths.
The El Hogar Building and an unidentified building around Binondo, Manila.
Stories behind the streets of Manila - Binondo and Quiapo
I have posted some interesting (or maybe not so interesting) stories on how some streets of Sampaloc and Intramuros were named that way, I haven’t continued those threads until well now. Of course, Binondo, considered the oldest Chinatown in the world, is the original settlement area for the Chinese Immigrants who converted to Catholicism, administered by the Dominican Missionaries. Meanwhile, Quiapo is a Recollect Mission near it.
Since those two are among the oldest districts of Manila, the streets are also among the oldest in the city. Though they are named differently now, their alignment basically stays the same and even those name changes are full of stories by themselves.
Binondo
Juan Luna St.
Named after the painter Juan Luna, its former name was Anloague (Tl. Anluwagi), meaning a carpenter. Anloague prominently appears in Philippine Literature as the address of Kapitan Tiago and Maria Clara, characters of Noli me Tangere. Some more streets in Binondo - San Nicolas are named after craftsmen like Anloague.
Quintin Paredes St.
Named after Senate President Quintin Paredes (1952), the street was formerly called Calle Rosario, since it ends at Binondo Church and the patron of that church is Santo Rosario. It is also one of the old Downtown’s main commericial streets.
Tytana St.
Formerly called Oriente Street, it was once the location of the Hotel de Oriente.
Ongpin St.
Named after Roman Ongpin St., a rich businessman of Chinese ancestry who is also a patron of the Philippine Revolution. The street was once called Sacristia St. The street ends at the Sacristy of the Binondo Church.
Dasmarinas St.
There are many place names in the Philippines named after Dasmarinas, one is a town in Cavite Province and another one is a gated village in Makati City. The street name (and as well as the town and village name) is possibly named after two persons one is Governor Luis Perez de Dasmarinas and another is his some Gomez Perez de Dasmarinas. The elder Dasmarinas was Governor General from 1590 until 1593 when he was assasinated on the way to Mollucas by Chinese mutineers. His some Gomez took his place. Governor Dasmarinas also started the building of Manila into a walled city we now call Intramuros.
Escolta
Named after “La Escortar” since the cavalry escorts of the Governor General have their stables here. Also one of the main commercial streets of the old Manila downtown.
Burke St.
Named after Dr. William Burke, a professor of UST and one of the pioneers of Cardiology in the Philippines. A Building in Escolta is also named after him.
Reina Regente St.
Named after Maria Christina of Austria, he is the Queen Regent of Spain until the King Alfonso XII of Spain attained maturity. Her rule in Spain saw the Philippine Revolution and the Treaty of Paris.
Yuchengco St.
Formerly called Calle Nueva.
Sabino Padilla St.
Sabino Padilla was a Court of Appeals and a Supreme Court Justice. This street was named Calle Gandara, after Governor General Gandara, a Governor General who established a telegraph system in the archipelago, making it closer to Spain and to the rest of the world.
Claro M. Recto St.
Claro M. Recto was a Philippine Senator, but the road named after it was formerly named Calle Azcarraga, after Marcelo Azcarraga. Marcelo Azcarraga is a Manila Born Spanish Politician, and the only prime Minister of Spain with Filipino Ancestry.
Teodora Alonzo St.
Teodora Alonza is the mother of the National Hero Jose Rizal. The street was once called Calle Arranque. The spanish word Arranque has many meanings, like boot and starting point.
Benavides St.
Named after Miguel de Benavides, Archbishop of Manila.
Maybe I’ll split the list here, so it won’t be too long. I’ll post other by parts in the future.
Sinulog 2016’s Fluvial Parade - The fluvial parade is a mainstay event of Cebu’s yearly Sinulog celebration.
Every year, people show their courage through braving the turbulent waters of Mactan to accompany the miraculous image of Sto. Niño. It’s voyage starts with the little Jesus visiting its foster father, St. Joseph in Mactan and ends at the Cebu City’s Basilica Minore de Sto. Niño where a celebration of the holy mass awaits him.
The Sinulog festivities is deemed to be incomplete without this religious custom done every year.

I’ve been swiping left and right on Tinder. Like what I’ve always said, it’s been tiring and I just do it to pass time. Just a few days ago while I was getting through my paper at the Graduate School, I opened the app. I saw an eye candy and there’s just lots of good things about her. For one, she’s taking up medicine and most of all, she’s got those chinky eyes. I still haven’t figured out yet, but my favor towards people in the medical field is too biased. I also have a soft spot for Chineese looking people. My high school crush could have driven me to this. Liking a person just because she’s good looking is easy. I fell for it. It’s rare that I exhaust my resources to find someone’s Facebook profile. Since she seemed too special, I did. I was also that forward to add her as a friend and now that I’m looking at it, nakakahiya pala. I was at the gym when she confirmed my friend request. I paused and smiled. My heart wanted to scream “Yes!!!” but my mind told me it’s weird. In that same instance, I messaged her. She replied right away. I wasn’t expecting a warm welcome. “Hi” “Hello!” “Thanks for accepting my request” “I find it weird when people thank me for accepting their friend request. ” I wanted to tell him that it’s easy to think about the impossible when a person is too beautiful but I told her “I mean I hope I don’t give the creeps.” Everything started there, and we kept on chatting. It was easier to connect because we’re both from UST. I’m a batch ahead of her. She shared a lot of things, like how she disliked eating soft lechon skin because it reminds her of cadaver skins. She also told me about Lexi. He’s a dog who’s now adopted by the aunt of his friend. She expressed how disappointed why her parents couldn’t allow her to keep a dog when it’s all that she wanted. I consoled her and told her about my plans of adopting one. I told her I can share my dog if my plan materializes. Other times, we’d talk about street food and how my dad paddled me with a broom stick. Everyday we’d talk, and she has lots of things to share. She’s spontaneous and I like it. I’m on the road now. I’m inspired and I’m happy. I would find myself smiling for no apparent reason. Despite not uploading anything new, I’d visit her Facebook profile. I know it might be a little creepy but don't worry, I’m trying to control myself. There are many times when I feel discouraged. As of now, if there’s one thing that’s clear, it’s uncertainty. Nothing is really sure and as I see it, we’re still on the process of testing the waters. I see her as a person who wouldn’t open up her feelings as much as I would. My expressions are too overt and I usually show that I like her too much. Right now, I’m trying to discourage myself from counting on the possibility that we would end up together. It’s too early and I just don’t want to mess up my feelings. Disappointment is just too much to bear and I thought, I should do something about it. I like her. If she likes me too, I’m not sure. So long as she makes me happy, I’ll be fine. I know she’s worth the risk.
