Tonight I finally replaced the capacitors in my Super Nintendo!! It wasn't the easiest thing I've ever done, but it also isn't the hardest. Mostly just fiddly, and I'm not the best at soldering so I had to do some troubleshooting which led me to redo some work a couple of times. All in all, would do again! I think I learned a lot, and the difference is astounding! The first image is before, and the two following images are after the fix. I'm calling this a win!

It also means I'll just be doing Samurai Goroh Mute City time trials until the day I die.

it sucks that Magic will always be this thing I am intimately familiar with and have an overwhelmingly amount of knowledge about, but has moved entirely to the margins of my life. I have other hobbies and purpose in my life. It's not the end of the world. It just hurts to lose something that's been so important to you for half of your life, not because you gradually grew apart from it, but because it became abruptly and irreversibly drowned in sludge.

Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.

Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.

The electric eel at my aquarium has a voltmeter attached to his tank, and whenever he pumps out a burst of electricity–either when he’s navigating his tank or getting fed–the meter lights up and makes noise. Sometimes, I’ll walk past him when he’s snuggled up and totally motionless on his log, and see the voltmeter going crazy.

I am left to assume that he is dreaming, and is sleep-zapping at the things in his dreams.
