Long day's work today but #rainbows remind me that there is #hope and #rest and fulfilled #promises and #God is still #good. (at Allen, Texas)
Guest Post by Sue C. Smith: 6 Ways to Avoid Comparing Yourself to Others (Vita. Consilio. 05.28.17)
We are wired to compare. We compare every day. Will this pair of shoes match my outfit today or go with my outfit tomorrow? Which is the better phone? Will I get to work faster if I take the car or the train? Which restaurant offers the best tasting steak? All these questions involve comparison.
But comparing ourselves to others is a whole different story. Comparing ourselves to other people is unfair because we can only know so much about another person. Constantly comparing ourselves to others can rob us of our joy. This is a game you can never win.

WORK IS GOOD (Live. Pray. Hustle. 05/24/17)
Weâve heard it so many times. We even say it and think it ourselves. Blue Monday. Hump Wednesday. Thank God itâs Friday. The universal feel is that work is a curse (it is) and that time could be better spent doing other things. Really though, we would eventually get to a point where we begin looking for something constructive to do, something more fulfilling and more meaningful. Pool tables, beach fun, or happy hour all the time simply doesnât cut it for our minds and hearts. Working is good for our health, wellbeing, self-esteem, confidence, security, and even, happiness. This is why vacation time is limited. No matter what kind of work you do, please appreciate it. Like most everything in life, work has its downsides, but if we let it, it bears more blessings than curses. Production [work, creativity, service] is where we obtain the most value, feel the most fulfilled, and receive the greatest return on our investment.

Youâve Been Given This MountainâŚbut Youâre Not Expected to Move It (Soul. Musings. 05/21/17)
So, youâre struggling to carry on. Youâve gone over everything again and again. Youâve checked in with God throughout the day and asked him to show you where you need to make a 360 or why your faith is being tried.
Youâre in desperate need of someone to talk to, so you bring it up to your pastor or small group. In an attempt to encourage you, someone grabs your hand and tells you, âGod gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers.â
Someone else puts their hand on your shoulder and says, âGod never gives us more than we can bear.â Then, someone else slips up and boldly quotes 1 Corinthians 10:13 which says in part, âWhen you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endureâ (NLT).
THE GREATEST RESPONSIBILITY (Live. Pray. Hustle. 05/21/17)
The two greatest responsibilities and privileges in life are: loving and serving. Many problems exist in our lives and in the world not because of a lack of money, food, shelter, compatibility, time, or meaning. Itâs because we fail to love and refuse to serve. Loving and serving are very elementary and it makes total sense for having a fuller life. But many of us donât do it because we have âselfâ first and foremost. We cannot truly love âon our termsâ or serve only when weâre certain of an applause. We love unconditionally and serve wholeheartedly because itâs right and itâs the only thing in the long run that really matters. Loving and serving are our highest responsibilities and we can do that in any role we play, any job we work, any community we enter, and any person we encounter.
LIVE. PRAY. HUSTLE.

Why âWonderfulâ and âPerfectâ Leaves So Many People Unsatisfied (Vita. Consilio. 05.19.17)
How is it that some people can seemingly have it all in life but still end up unsatisfied and unhappy?
Let me tell you a story about Rebbie.
When Rebbie was a child, she envisioned her life. She dreamed of going to college, working an executive level job in the corporate world, becoming a public speaker, buying a two-story house in Boston, and essentially living the life.
When she was 16, she graduated at the top of her high school class, received a full scholarship to an Ivy League school, majored in business and public policy, and graduated by the age of 19. She had reached her goal one year earlier than planned and thought that after completing college she would be satisfied and happy.
Unwritten: 10 Organizational Apps That Will Help Get Your Life Together (with Allie Braun)
It is not easy keeping everything we have to do, remember, get, purchase, take, or file in one place. In fact, it can be downright stressful to keep it all straight sometimes.
The good news is that we live in an amazingly digital age. With mini-supercomputers in our hands all day, every day, we already turn to our phones for literally everything else in our life. So why not organization too?
You can. Itâs the second piece of good news about organization: thereâs an app for that.
