SVSSS magical girl au (expansion) Side note: Had a magical tattoo AU in my drafts (smooshed between the next part of the spideryuan au and the mini au, I'M STILL WORKING ON THEM I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONTINUE EITHER RIGHT NOW) should I post it? Okay so I'm not sure if I've mentioned my magical girl au on here, but if I haven't here's a rundown. (Whole lot of words under the cut) Note: Magical Girls is a gender neutral term in this au, SY does poke fun at the fact though.
SY gets chosen as a magical girl and he says no, because why would a grown man want to go out and risk his life fighting in frilly dresses? Well the system does not take no for an answer and SY gets tricked into selecting yes. The system tells him that he has to work hard to retire (It has no intentions of letting him retire until he drops dead though.) ALRIGHT RECAP OVER. -- Okay so just little details. Magical girls draw their powers from a card deck. There's two decks one can draw from, a deck with normal powers, and a deck with random animals. It's very rare that a system will show enough grace to let a person pick from both decks. Magical girls don't /have/ to draw from the deck--some systems don't even tell their chosen people about the deck draws in the first place. Systems each have their own personality, most of them complimenting their bonded people. It's not unheard of for a system and their user to clash though. -- Shen Yuan has no idea what he's doing and he messes up quite a few things. For one, he accidentally sets his magical girl name as "Shen Yuan"... Yeah, HIS OWN NAME. It works well for anonymity because nobody thinks there'll ever be a magical girl dumb enough to use their own name. Secondly, he has no idea how to use his abilities. At first when he drew shapeshifting as his ability he was thrilled, at least that was something... Except it's not all fun and games because now he has random feathers popping up whenever he's upset or scales popping up on his hips whenever he tries to take a shower. It's a struggle to balance university life with hero life when suddenly he has the neck of an owl and accidentally turns his head 270 degrees while trying to pop his neck in class (thankfully nobody notices but still) -- SQH was supposed to be a magical girl as well, but there's a mix up and somehow he ends up as the mascot instead. He works for Mobei-Jun (An icy magical girl who got the corresponding powers in his draw) What is SQH's animal form you might be wondering? Well I wanted to do hamhua at first, and then slowly shifted to gliding animals (because of the one "Mobei-Jun can't fly" scene) before finally settling on a bat. I chose a brown long-eared bat purely out of cuteness and I love the idea of a jumpy SQH with huge bat ears atop his head. Also I think being a bat would fit well with the novel writer, just imagine SQH up at ungodly hours of the night hunched over his laptop. He's chilling though, not chugging energy drinks every five minutes... Now he just does that in the day time. It works out because he takes night classes and mostly does online courses anyways. Mobei-Jun very much enjoys keeping SQH in his pocket, when on duty. It's also hilarious to think about a tiny SQH carying MBJ. SQH has two mascot forms, the normal bat appearance & a bat-harpy form.
MBJ doesn't have to deal with the limitations of the system, SQH does and he thinks it's the most unfair, pretty privilege, biased bullshit ever. -- Mobei-Jun initially drew the bat card. Except he didn't want it. (The systems don't tell people that they can redraw either) and ended up tossing the thing. Shang Qinghua just so happened to be doing a late night convenience store run and got hit with the card. The system refuses to do anything about it, so now SQH is very much bound to MBJ. MBJ isn't a conventional magical girl, he's a "fallen" magical girl, so he kinda follows the evil agenda. He's supposed to open the world to The Horrors™ or whatever it was that the system wants. -- Liu Qingge is also a magical girl, except he has yet to draw a power (He has no idea how the system works) and is brute forcing his way with the generic magical girl physique boost and his chosen weapon. -- Shen Jiu & Yue Qi are known magical girl partners (not a couple... yet) because they synchronize so well. Yue Qingyuan (Magical girl name) is always seen trailing Shen Qingqiu (magical girl name) whenever he can. They also seem to share a mascot and everyone thinks they're dating (They still have tons of misunderstandings and miscommunications to get through before they reach that level) SJ became a magical girl through will (he was supposed to be one when he was older, but he thought he wasn't becoming one because he was too weak. He wanted to be a magical girl to keep up with YQ, who was chosen as a magical girl at a young age. (They were both victims of a massive child trafficking ring that slipped under the radar because it was disguised as an orphanage. SJ wanted to be able to protect YQ and the older girls that would tearfully shield the younger kids (himself included) from vicious men. He wanted to be able to protect and he didn't have the strength to do it so he forced a magical girl transformation after catching the attention of a mascot. -- MQF was one of the luckier ones that got to draw from both decks. MQF draws a poisonous synthesizing ability, which pairs well with the fact that the animal card MQF drew was a (tropical) centipede. MQF plays the pair so well, to the point that most of the public have no idea what his abilities are. MQF has a high pain tolerance, and with his advanced physique he is his own weapon. He uses his legs (centipede legs) as needle-like weapons. He also uses silk--(Tropical centipedes spin silk pads for mating, but obviously MQF isn't using the silk for that)--to manipulate his leg-needles in the air. While he can't make webs like spiders can he does use his silk for a minimal binding affect. His poison synthesis ability can also make medicine so yeah it checks out for his job.
(There's more about other characters like QQQ, WQW, ZZL, LBH, LBG, etc. But this post has gone on long enough)
