… I feel like this is kinda mean. Labeling EVERYONE in a certain category (the customers) as wrong simply isn’t true. There are definitely customers who are mistaken in certain situations but just because that’s true, it doesn’t make everyone else wrong. That’s like saying ALL men are stronger than women, which isn’t true. SOME men are stronger and SOME women are stronger. We as people should start using SOME more than ALL and NEVER.

You can really tell who’s never worked in retail before by the way they view customers

I mean I get the vibe but I've been reading the website NotAlwaysRight and the website NotAlwaysWorking for a really goddamn long time and that's given me enough content to appreciate when retail staff can get it wrong too.

i think bc of youtube and instagram which advertise and invest in their popular creators people forget that “big” tumblr users are just accidentally popular and that NO ONE is backing their sails. we don’t talk to or hang out with each other. there’s not a convention or ad money to encourage collaboration bc what would we even collaborate on. there are no big tumblr trends or memes or in jokes. if i could make $1000 in ad revenue writing a shitpost with setheverman don’t you think id have done it. i am untethered from earth and reality, alone in the dark i can’t recall the taste of strawberries

We should make a tumblr convention so this can happen :)

If 2020 ends with Dashcon coming back I’m going to unplug my modem and walk into the woods never to be seen again.

Joy I was living on a Norwegian goat farm without running water or electricity when the fist dashcon happened and then I went into town one day to check my email etc. and it happened to be the very day it all unfolded. So unless you STAY in the woods it won’t help.

it is past time we jettisoned the useless false dichotomy of introversion vs. extroversion and just accepted that everybody has a minimum amount of social interaction, failing which, they get really weird. and everybody has a maximum amount of social interaction, exceeding which, they get really weird. these levels are different for everyone, for a variety of reasons, and have no moral dimension. and that is all.

remember when tumblr used to have the format for reblogged additions on posts be indented instead of vertical and if the post had enough additions to it (which happened frequently because no one on tumblr can shut their fucking mouth) it would just push all the text off the side of the post completely and it became unreadable. it would get so far pushed over that it would just be exactly one character per line and you had to read the post like that. that was a real thing that happened

I've been following lockdown rules since the 16th March, I feel this.

i dont want governments that acknoweldge my gender on their forms under a guise of acceptance in order to further target queers. i dont want facial recognition software that can see and read faces of colour and with disfigurements. i dont want cops taught social justice language so they can slink into our rallies and movements and spy and wreak havoc. i want the systems gone.

To be fair, we were just talking in my Media Histories class how the photograph was a huge huge player in cataloging not for art or “fact” that we think of but criminal and racial stereotype development. 

the user base of tumblr is a specific demographic of people who were ‘the smart kid’ growing up but didn’t do as well academically as they got older due to mental health struggles, were probably bullied in school and were quite lonely & introverted so they took solace in reading but now rarely pick up a book, grew up on tumblr but continued using it into adulthood unlike most of their peers who stopped using it after it lost popularity
