[Video description: Gritty is turning the crank on a flagpole to raise the Progress Pride Flag. He gesticulates angrily that the flag is not blowing in the wind, then gestures offscreen. The flag begins blowing. As Gritty begins raising the flag more, the camera pans out to show a man in a suit and sunglasses, looking like a stern Secret Service agent, is holding a leafblower that points at the flag. End description.]

been playing around with cli apps on my linux adventures
When peoples say that Linux is difficult...
Windows: you need to run Edge, find EXE files in the web, don't infect your machine by malicious pages. Then run each installator, don't accidentally agree to unnecessary additional software or toolbars. Find out that Windows update just broke drivers you have installed manually a five minutes ago... Linux: you have to run one single command which installs for you desktop environment, drivers and all needed software. Windows: i forgot, you actually need an account and OneDrive! What do you mean "not need it"? How dare you, i will remind you each 3 days with a full screen splash! Linux: you don't need any account. Any cloud/mail connections is the question of your needs, that you can install separately from the OS. Windows: you need to have secure boot and TPM! Linux: i...i can run on a toaster, bro. Are you kidding me?! To be fair, i live on Linux since 2012. And looking at Windows 11 - that's ABOMINATION. How peoples use that? :D

this forest is old. very old. ⌠old as balls.
it really is ok to be Basicâ˘, ya know?
scented candles are comforting and nice, sweet coffee drinks and black coffee drinks are both valid, romcoms are called âfeel goodâ for a reason and you can watch them to feel happy itâs not a crime, decorate your room with fairy lights, drink hot cocoa with marshmallows, listen to that cd that everyone talks about and that you hear playing in the Starbucks all the time, popular things become popular because a lot of people like them and itâs ok to also like those popular things it doesnât make you boring. I could go on but you know what I mean.
your interests and simple pleasures are meant to entertain you, not meant to make you look entertaining to others.
if you enjoy Basic⢠things then embrace that enjoyment. thatâs for you. enjoy it.
I do tend to be suspicious of art that really lauds and worships the idea of being an artist. Like yes, art is cool, I think it's valuable, there's a reason I make it. But let's not get overly self congratulatory here
I think it's okay to love what you do, and even celebrate that. But there's a line that gets crossed sometimes where the art goes... "unlike all of those stupid people, who just dont get it." And it's like... hey... who are you making this for, exactly?
reminds me of that "artists fuck better because we turn sex into art, mattresses are our canvas" post or however that goes. always makes me laugh

The American consumer doesnât actually want trucks and cars that are huge enough that you canât see a six foot tall person over the hood. They make vehicles that big now to avoid environmental regulations related to engine efficiency
About a decade or so ago different regulations were put in place for different classes of cars by weight. The heaviest had the most lenient efficiency regulations. So instead of having the intended effect of making cars more efficient they ended up making them bigger.
Dangerous, polluting SUVs and pickup trucks took over America. Lawmakers are partly to blame.
Thereâs a lot of things that the American consumer doesnât want that get sold to us anyways either because we donât have the money for what we want or the industries selling the things we need made decisions about them without our input.
We assume that things shift in markets because itâs what the consumer wants but thatâs not always the case. Americans donât actually just have taste in larger trucks with smaller beds. In fact many Americans who use trucks for work import smaller foreign trucks with larger beds if they have the money for it or continue to use older trucks from the 2000s or earlier.
These big cars and trucks have been forced upon us. We donât want them. We just assume that other people must want them because theyâre everywhere.
"Americans don't buy sedans anymore, they want SUVs!" we don't buy new sedans anymore because the only ones left are the Ultra Expensive sports cars. I still like sedans, I just buy them used because I'm broke. the invisible hand of the free market is guided on a puppet arm rod
