Have you ever had surgery?
Yes, something routine like wisdom teeth or tonsils
Yes, something elective like implants or face lift¹
Yes, to fix an issue, like plating/setting a bone or fixing a deviated septum¹
Yes, something emergent like getting an appendix out or fixing an internal wound
Yes, something not mentioned
Yes, multiple of these
No, but I have been numbed or gone to the ER*
No, nothing like this at all
Nuance/Results
*/hospital for some other reason. (Stitches, a cavity, a cast, etc)
I've been rewatching ER and seeing how many people go up to surgery/how many surgeries they seem to have going on at one time, got me wondering how much of the population actually ends up having some type of surgery in their lifetime!
1: only choose elective over fixing an issue if you actually did it electively. So you didn't need to have it done, you just wanted to for cosmetic reasons (some people get new noses, some people legitimately have deviated septums that cause breathing issues. Some people get face lifts to get rid of wrinkles, some have skin sagging over their eyes that makes it hard to see. No judgement! Just be sure you choose appropriately!)
new art style!! (pls repost with credits)

Thinking about the blessed eyes AUs for Mdtb and idk guys but what about cursed eyes? What about lore for eyes left red by Amaterasu's wrath because she found their souls wanting? What about Tbrm, with his albinism, with his shakey vision and red eyes, being seen as cursed by the Uchiha for his poor vision rather than blessed for his red eyes?
!!! Exactly my train of thought! My first thought when I considered Uchiha opinion on naturally red eyes was that they'd find it insulting--a literal poor facsimile of the Sharingan that doesn't even work right. Like an incompetent imitation, or a stolen item damaged in its theft. It's obviously not real eye theft, so it wouldn't draw that kind of hostility/condemnation, but it's the sort of thing an Uchiha would see and sneer at, or do the Shinto equivalent of crossing themselves afterwards. Like warding off the evil eye (...which is a hilarious bit of phrasing there).
I can't see the Uchiha being all that accepting of a clanmate born with terrible vision. They wouldn't burn albino kids at the stake, but I feel like the kid would end up with a strong social expectation to develop the Sharingan and "make up" for the deficit. If you take the headcanon that blind veterans are highly respected among the Uchiha, then natural blindness/poor vision must be like...stolen valor.
I'm ecstatic to see people chiming in! It's kind of a surprise, too. I'm very reclusive and in my corner so I typically avoid continuing discussions but.
Specifically in this instance, I think it's also a bit of like... Amaterasu's blessing is for the Uchiha, and therefore even the naturally blind would be respected to some degree (They're still Amaterasu's children, souls of fire and eyes of coal!) if they're Uchiha bred.
But to expand upon the idea of cursed eyes: Amaterasu inflicting blindness upon "demons" (If we are to nod to the "White Demon" title given to Tobirama) or the unworthy, and therefore marking them as imposters so her children know who to avoid/oppose would make for an interesting dynamic within the Founders.
This was all just musings for one of my comics though ;; so yeehaw.

Ok I want to say something controversial
But you are responsible for your own safe spaces. You can block tags, block words, block people.
āBut i thought fandom was supposed to be a safe spaceā āyeah you have to curate it.
Unfortunately one personsās safe space may be another personsā trigger. Thatās ok. Simply block them, block the tag, block the word etc. They can do the same for you.
Maybe Iām just out of touch, but Iāve been around since the days of ādonāt like, donāt readā and thatās a good philosophy. If it squicks you, scroll past. If it causes you anxiety or upset, block! Plenty of people are responsive if you ask them to tag an upsetting trigger. And if theyāre dicks about it, block em.
Since different people have different needs, one personās safe space will be anotherās Trauma Central.
I donāt know who said it first, but āI need to be able to express my anger without shameā and āI need to be away from yelling and loud noisesā are both valid needs people can have for a safe space that really arenāt compatible with each other.
So are āI need to process my traumaā and āI need to not meet any trauma.ā
Or āI want a safe space to tell/read the stories that speak to meā and āthose stories are distressing to me.ā
Insisting that your needs are the only needs anyone should have is not a safe space, itās its own act of violence.
You donāt get to make others homeless to make the universe your personal safe space.

How to protect yourself during stampede
this isnāt the usual thing Iād share on my stupid nerd blog, but this is SO important. I was nearly crushed in a crowd like this once. It was terrifying because you have NO control over the panicking mass of humans around you. you are just at the mercy of all this chaotic force. this is a real thing that can happen very suddenly! it did happen in the news recently! My situation was, the olympics was happening in my city, I was on my way home from school, and a crowd of people suddenly flooded into the street around me. in seconds it went from, busy-city-street-crowded, to, wtf I canāt even move crowded. I was so pressed against the backpack of the man in front of me, my feet lifted off the ground a moment. People were climbing lamp posts, signs, bus shelters, trees, everything to get up out of it. it was like the street became an ocean of people, and all the peopleās survival instincts were making them dumber. everyone was yelling. no one knew how to solve it. police, fire fighters and medics saved us by breaking the locks on the inside of the mall we were trapped next to. a huge group flooded into the building, releasing a bit of the pressure on the people outside. I was in that group that got in.
We were trapped in the mall awhile. Because the olympics was on, they had big screens in a few sitting areas of the mall that would normally be showing the games. but now the coverage was focused on this crowd surge. They showed a helicopter shot of the building we were now in, totally surrounded by colorful dots. a solid mass of humans with no space between.Ā I know someone was partially trampled and needed medics, because I saw that, but i donāt know the statistics on who else was hurt, hopefully no one killed! I donāt know if these methods can definitely save you, but they might give you a better chance. so watch and share!
Sharing to my own stupid nerd blog for the same reason, this is SO IMPORTANT. Human crushes are one of the most unexpected ways to die. People go out to a show or a sports game, and make it there, but they never come back. Other strategies include staying away from large obstacles (like fences) that you could get crushed against, and doing your best to stay above the crowd. Try to climb onto something if you can.
And also ā not to get nitpicky with deadly tragedies, but theyāre called āhuman crushes,ā not āstampedes.ā Itās an important difference in description and also in respect. The deaths usually happen because the victims are pinned together in a tight space, they canāt breathe (as in the video) and they suffocate. āStampedeā doesnāt convey what actually happened to those people. The crush that happened in Seoul recently wasnāt because people āstampeded,ā it was because they couldnāt move at all and they suffocated. But calling it a āstampede,ā youād think it was the people themselves that ran over each other, like wild animals. Itās disrespectful and untrue.
Horrifyingly, the victims of many human crushes have been blamed for their own deaths, which are usually purely accidental or due to criminal mismanagement from authorities. If youāre in a mental place to read about tragedies and police corruption, check out the Hillsborough Disaster, in which 97 people died due to the incompetence of the police, who then blamed everything on the victims: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillsborough_disaster
If you canāt play the video:
1. Stand like a boxer. Nice wide stance, arms up like youāre preparing to either throw a punch or shield against one, i.e. elbows bent by your waist and fists by your shoulders. That will keep some space around your chest
2. If you fall and canāt get up, roll onto your side and curl up in the foetal position
