I wanna know the legendary companion gift story!
This story is infamous in the guild. As it made us known to the devs themselves.
So my buddy I got him into swtor when I fell back down the rabbithole again when I got a new computer that could run it again and I wanted one of my best friends to play with me. He is my fellow guild founder & co-leader he funds and has his Smuggler's name on all the deeds and paperwork. While Isadola (me) runs the day to day.
We can easily boast to be one of the richest guilds on Star Forge. We got that way cuz of my buddy.
He is that Smuggler. Once he found the GTN it was over. He's on other Cartel Sellers' block list for constantly undercutting everyone on anything he could sell.
As bro basic entered the gtn like
I wish I was kidding. I loaned him 1 million to start back when he joined. Now? I have to hear my bestie bemoan the legacy bank & credit cap. (Legacy bank cap is about 100 billion by the by).
But Im burying the lead here with context anyway-
Before the big GTN rework that also removed seller's names from listing (this is important):
Fairs fair with old friends. He had to constantly hear my bitching about the ridiculous bulk prices for legendary companion gifts while he was doing his GTN stuff.
Now for more important context: Legendary companion gifts could be bought on Odessen for 250k a pop and were not legacy bound. So well yall can figure out the rest.
Also my buddy is a hoarder in games. So bro just had THOUSANDS of each of the legendary gifts.
So what does this fucker (affectionate) do?
Start selling stacks of the gifts for pennies basically as he's a cartel seller with retired item knowledge he didnt need it.
So Taskar Tendoora, Isadola's bestest Smuggler friend, single handedly crashed Star Forge's Legendaey companion gifts market all because he could, also to lower the prices for everyday folks that didnt have millions to spare for 50 units of one.
To say the fallout was bad over the next few days is an understatment. He started getting in-game hate mail from the legendary gift sellers pissed off to all hell he just ruined their income.
But Taskar the GOAT that my brother is, didnt fucking care. He got the intended results instantly and then some as time went on. Some of the sellers tried to get back at hom by buying all his bundles for cheap then upsell them.
But the clowns that they are didn't see the rent lowering blaster shots that it all was. As almost within a day he crashed that section of the gtn.
And not too soon after hilariously- Legendary Companion gifts bought on Odessen were made legacy bound. Now the only unbound versions of the gifts are from Alliance crates.
The devs of course were planning on doing this anyway but this little stunt on Star Forge caused it to be moved to the top of their list at the time.
He got a ton of reports about him over it, then more from folks on fleet reporting him constantly when he does cartel item give-aways. Cuz heaven forbid a swtor is actually generous sometimes.
.... Ya know when a dev wants to talk to you in game you'll know.... My buddy was minding his own business one day then got insta-teleported to a stronghold by one of the investiagtion team. It eventually came out that my buddy was innocent and clean, and all the reports were petty reports. But when they do such investigations they look into EVERYTHING about your toon. Even guilds.
And one of the best things to come out of the whole thing was one of the devs instantly clocking the reference our guild is named for. It was such a nice thing to hear even second hand.
So TLDR- My hoarder and heart of gold GTN seller bestie, got tired of my bitching over Gift prices back in the day and proceeded to crash that specfic market for the good of the little folks and because he could.
It pissed off all the gift sellers enough to report him, which was the straw that broke the bantha's back and caused an investigation team member to look into all the reports on him.
Only to find out they were investigating one of their whales that just so happen to not be greedy about their cartel & credit collection.
And now he knows some devs, and they are very much aware of our little guild.
I got carried away Im sorry π, but this is a Saga I never tire of telling.
