Donald's Diary, 1954
what if namine could unchain marluxia's memories?
types of ‘bad dialogue’ in kh:
•great line; bad read from the VA
•great line; bad scene timing/line pacing
•great line if you have a whimsical heart of light and friendship, you irony-poisoned soul
•bad line out of context; fantastic line in context but you do admittedly need several layers of context yeah but trust meeee
•it’s supposed to be awkward; these characters have a troubled relationship or don’t know each other well yet
•ok it is a bad line what are you gonna do about it
when youre aromantic you still get dead wife flashbacks but its just about that really fucking good sandwich you ate last week

SO YOU WANT TO CROCHET THE FOX CARDIGAN
You know the one:
This post brought to you by @hollowedskin, who tagged me and said "Gayle might end up doing it."
Which, yes, it is on my list, but also, not right this second. However, I do love a bit of research, so here is what I found.
First of all, this sweater was made from this Mary Maxim pattern:
Which I was about 99% sure of when it popped up on ravelry, but then I found this youtuber who confirmed it:
I have not watched the whole video, and I don't think I've ever seen Michelle pop up on my recommendations, but looking at that thumbnail, her work looks fantastic. I'm gonna go watch the whole thing now and will report back if I am iffy. I doubt I will be.
NOTE: When she made the video, you could only get the pattern as part of a kit. This is no longer true. The link above is ONLY the pattern.
EDIT: Oh, wait, the eyes are different! So, the "official" version of the knitting pattern IS only available in a kit, but if you can tapestry, I think you can easily just adjust the eyes to be more open like they are in that version. But it is still 100% based very much on the wolf pattern.
If you don't want to watch a 40-minute video, buy the pattern and follow the gauge and the charts. I recommend single crochet because the original is done in stockinette but also because tapestry crochet (which is how you do this) looks cleanest in single crochet.
Okay, I had to stop watching the video. She is great. She's having a ball. But she is also not working with the pattern the way I would work with the pattern, and it is making me twitchy.
When I say "use the charts to make the sweater" I mean to use them both for the fox design but also for the shaping. If you make it to the pattern, then you should be working the same number of stitches, so if the pattern says to "bind off" three to decrease for an armhole, just work slip stitches like you would when making an armhole for a crochet pattern.
Again, I cannot stress enough I have zero issue with her making adjustments to fit her style, but I would be duping this to as exact a copy as a could, so watching her decide she wants it very square when there's sleeve shaping and a shawl collar makes me feral.
I should do a knit-to-crochet video when I'm back to filming and take one of the several knit sweater patterns I have and show how I do my adjustments to crochet. That would be very helpful for people, I think.
Ooooh video!
Ok first up I would love to see a video explaining your process for converting knit to crochet, I'm always amazed by your work!
I had a quick squizz through Michelle's video to see how she chose to do the collar, what stitches etc, but I won't have time to watch the whole thing till Monday (boooo). She's very skilled!
Thank you so much for tagging me in, I'm so stoked to watch it later, I love process videos!
my really funny and original concept
wasn't me she was dueling -
but she knew what she was doing -
when she taught me how to orc this way

I think that part of what irks me about AI being used even for "small" stuff like meme graphics (aside from all the larger problems obviously) is like.... the time spent on it was part of the humor. "this is a silly inconsequential joke but I had to stop everything and spend 5 minutes making it" was, at least for me, part of the joke. Someone really took time out of their day to make me look at something silly they took time out of their day to make. Now it's like someone took time out of my day to make me look at something no one even made. Stop wasting my time if you aren't wasting yours too.

It's absolutely crazy that intellectual labor can wipe you out. It seems like it shouldn't be a thing, like your stores of brain juice shouldn't be able to be depleted in that way.
I feel like a wizard that's out of spell slots, and to me that's a hackish mechanical limitation put in place to try to balance the classes.
#it's fucked and it's bad design #i should be able to write and edit for 20 hours a day #i'm just sitting there how are we even using energy #feels made up (via @softest-punk, emphasis mine)
Your brain is an incredibly energy-intensive organ. It makes up approximately 2% of your total body mass, but at rest it's using 22% of your total energy intake. The only thing that uses the same percentage of energy is all of your skeletal muscle (which is about 40% of your total body mass), with the liver (about 2.6% of your total mass) close behind at 21% (Aragon et al, 2017).
And that's how much energy it's using at rest.
That's the baseline.
So if you're doing lots of intellectual labour, your brain - which already has disproportionately huge energy demand - is going to use even more energy to keep up with the work. That's why you feel so wiped/drained/like you're out of spell slots after high intellectual demand - because your brain is an organ, and you've just done a lot of high-energy work with a high-energy organ.
Feed your brain.
