we don’t talk enough about how humiliating it can be to be fat. and i don’t just mean “being fat is embarrassing because people think fat is ugly”, i’m talking about how nothing is made for us. everything is too small. there’s not enough space in the doorway, there’s not enough room on the bus, all of the seats at the doctor’s office are too narrow, clothes never fit right, clothing that comes in bigger sizes aren’t proportionate or sewn right so they’re frumpy and misshapen, they never have interesting or pretty patterns like skinny clothes do, and all of our stuff is more expensive. it’s so frustrating and humiliating to be fat, not only on the basis that we’re fat, but because no one wants us to exist. it’s dehumanizing to be treated like an abomination.

^^^ fatphobia is dehumanizing because people literally see us as less human than skinny people. that’s why the go-to insults are animals and objects
