The next morning at breakfast I had the most tremendous epiphany. Like most epiphanies, it happened over a cup of tea.

A long, long time, that was what. A long time, whispered the low rustle of the breeze in the leaves outside. A long time, sang the drip-drip-drip of rainwater, softly, while Tobias sat clear-eyed and sleepless in the dark, listening to the wood.

"Just know," he says, "that I'd do anything for you. That I'd let you do anything to me. There's nothing about you I don't want."

"Bibliotropic," Hugh said. "Like sunflowers are heliotropic, they naturally turn towards the sun. We naturally turn towards the bookshop."

Robin sat and listened to music for several hours, and was disappointed to learn that only forty minutes had passed on the clock.

Boyfriend Material

Oliver was looking distractingly intense. I guess I could admit that, under most circumstances, he was a better-than-okay looking man. But when he was being passionate about shit, and his eyes got all sharp and his mouth got all interesting, he probably got upgraded to hot. And this was just about the worst possible time to start noticing that because, while I was noticing how attractive he could be, he was noticing what a complete piece of human garbage I was. 'Oh?' I said intelligently, while not staring.

'Met.' So tame a word for it. It was not a meeting, Veronica.  I was introduced to her and it was like finding a part of myself that had been somehow walking the earth without me. She was my other half when I had not realized I was incomplete.
