Why in the fuck are you nerds encouraging people new to Linux to start with Arch-based distros? Just go with Ubuntu or Mint, and then you can change to a different distro when you've got more experience. Jesus, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills

I absolutely blame Facebook for this shift. Words cannot describe how freaking WEIRD it was in the mid-00s when there was suddenly this popular website where you were required to use your real, brickspace name and encouraged to post photos of yourself. Every single bit of Standard Internet Safety prior to then said that you should never ever ever do either of those.

omg 2005/2006. When all our parents, who had been telling us for YEARS to never use our real names on the internet, suddenly all got facebook accounts and started using their real names on the internet like it was totally normal. Complete mental whiplash. Before then, it was WEIRD to use your real name on the internet. Like, people who did that were weirdos.

This is true of any url! You can delete everything agher the ? when you share a url and it will delete all the tracking bits.

would like to add that the stuff after ? isn't always a tracking token, sometimes it contains important info for the link to actually work (e.g. it could contain the video ID). however, try opening a link without the ? string; if it works then there's no harm in getting rid of it 🦭👌

i had to scroll back up after the second post because it you delete the bit after ? in a youtube.com link it will NOT work but a youtu.be link is fine :>
