My face blindness is so bad its laughable.
My brain only processes hair style, color palates, general shapes, etc. So, if there are two characters that look too similar in the same media, then they are just the same person to me. But also, if an existing character changes their appearance in some way, that is a brand new person. My brain does not care if they just changed their hair color/style. That is a different person.
Case in point,
These guys? Pale white guy with medium length brown hair & sad wet cat energy?? Same person. Idc.
Then there's this-
Their hair lays differently & one is less blonde?? Two different people. Idk what to tell you. I literally had to search online for who the person on the right was because I didn't have a fucking clue lol. You could have told me they recast Steve Rogers & I would have believed you.
This is why I think movies should just recast people when an actor can't play a roll anymore. Just replace them. I might not even notice lol. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Sure, it doesn't work 100% of the time.
I caught the actor change in sense 8 s2. You'd think it wouldn't matter with my brain since they're both bald black men with very close skin tones- but their heads & faces are shaped way too different, their build is different, & s2 Capheus is Bald Bald, not just shaved head bald like s1 actor. So I was able to catch it. But even if its not 100% foolproof for not noticing, I still think they should just recast people.
