imagine being with a team for 5 years and repaying their loyalty by collecting valuable points for said team and taking 10 podium finishes (which puts you 5th in table of overall podium finishes ever in formula e jsyk) including 2 wins, one of which is at your and your team’s home race. imagine helping that team to finally achieving a constructors championship, imagine that you have all this success but you are always being seen as the “second driver”, you’re overshadowed by your teammate and told that you’re only in the team because of your name and connections but you knuckle down and prove them wrong. then imagine that you make a silly mistake in a virtual race, you apologise and you pay 10k to charity but all the work that you’ve put in and all the legacy that you have created does not matter and you lose your seat.  do i agree with what daniel did? no. do i think he deserves to lose his seat? definitely not. so i get it - it’s probably a breach of his contract and yes, teams are no longer loyal like they used to be. but it’s not a real race, this is not reality and that’s the real problem with using esports to deliver a product that is not supposed to be virtual. where do we draw the line? do we hand out REAL punishments such as race bans and penalty points for things that happen in a computer game?
