Honestly, if I didn't know spoilers when I played this game, i probably would've sided w/ the Emperor! Like for ex when I played DAO the first time, I sided with Branka against Caradin (which is evil according to reddit lol) bc the dwarves told me we need Branka in order to help u so I literally thought I wouldnt get their help if I didn't come back with her! And then I find she doesn't even go back w/ you and the outcome is the same no matter who u side with LOL.

Imagine going thru this whole scene and refusing to acknowledge what it's trying to show, that Empy maintained much of his humanity, he was still Balduran in many ways, and he legit loved Ansur so much he tried to help Ansur move on. And that Empy wasn't wrong for wanting to live. And yet Ansur was also right to see this as a mercy killing: illithid have to eat brains, they don't have souls. They were both right and that's why it's so tragic. Empy is my Top Opp and yet even I FUCKING CRY reading his letter to Ansur!!!! It's terrible how this tore them apart 😭

You are in danger of turning into a mind flayer, maybe one who could also keep your memories/humanity, but that wouldn't matter bc you'd be killed by those you love for what you are. We have sympathy for Astarion being a spawn, who like empy was transformed against his will, and who like empy, eats people (when unlike empy he COULD survive on animals), but not the guy whose shoes (or dare I say tentacles) we could be in if we fail.

1. What's your blog title from? Amashelle is a name I made up in jr high and it just became my default online persona. This is my knitting side-blog. I also have @amashellewrites where I post writing and worldbuilding stuff. My main blog is @amashelle Echoes of Camelot and was supposed to be all about Arthuriana but I branched out fairly quickly and didn't figure out side blogs til much later.

2. Latest movie? What did you think? A rewatch of a film called Curse of the Dragon Slayer. It is a terrible movie that I love dearly.

3. What are you looking forward to right now? Pathfinder session on Thursday! Really fun campaign coming to a turning point. Excited to see where we take it from here.

4. If you could do anything at all today, what would it be? I would really love to sit outside and work on my novel, but it is raining :(

5. Drink of choice? Flavoured Lemonade. Pretty much any fruity or flowery flavour, but green apple or lavender are my favourites right now.

6. Hair routine? Wash 2-3 times a week with two different shampoos, followed by conditioner. Between washings I do very little with it.

7. Favourite way to travel? Is there another you want to try? I love driving if I'm the only one in the car and can blast dumb 90s music without judgement. I've always wanted to go on a cross-country train trip though.

8. Favourite month and why? I love September because I love the freshness of a new semester, even though I am not in regular school right now; It feels like the real start of the year to me.

9. Favourite time of day and why? Night time. Like 10pm-1am. I am at my most creative, and everything is quiet, and the night air is fresh and cool :)

10. Do you play or follow any sports? Not since my sister stopped figure skating, and even then I only followed her competitions and like 1-2 world competitors. I cannot tell the difference between most jumps.

11. What kind of music has been stuck in your head lately? The Gris soundtrack. I got my hands on the sheet music for the piano arrangements and even though I suck I've been slowly learning to play them, so they're in my head all. the. time. Beautiful pieces though, so no complaints.

12. Dishes or laundry? Dishes.

13. Something you learned recently? TW: human anatomy I recently learned that the urethra is not physically connected to the vagina in any fashion. It's such a small thing, but I didn't take biology in HS, sex ed in North America sucks, and nobody ever thought to mention it. Since everyone knows the male urethra extends into the penis, I just assumed. Stupid, I know, but

14. What would you talk about if you could give a TED talk on anything? Oo... this is hard, because there are so many things... probably something to do with the origins of the Arthurian legend. Or the sorry state of literacy education in NA.

15. Piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot? Relax. Have a treat. Sugar is good for your brain.

16. Piece of advice you would give yourself five years ago? Don't berate yourself for falling down on the good habits. Just call it a day and try again tomorrow.

17. Do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any? Not per-say, but I do believe in signs. Like if I'm coming to an intersection and I can take multiple routes from there, I'll take the route based on which crosswalk is open when I get there, even if it's technically the longer path.

18. Are you musical (play any instruments, sing)? Would you ever perform for an audience? I sing reasonably well, I play beginner-intermediate flute, and beginner piano. I have performed for an audience with all three.

19. Write, type or speak? Write or type. I do both every day.

I THINK it was Buffet Infinity. Really good! Compellingly weird, endearingly sloppy at times, I like the way the seams show and I am so glad that they ACTUALLY committed to the fucking bit (lookin at you, Late Night with the Devil). And what a good fucking bit! It reminded me a lot of Unedited Footage of a Bear, This House Has People in It, and Too Many Cooks, which is high praise from me.

3. What are you looking forward to right now?

Werewulf in December.

4. If you could do anything at all today, what would it be?

Pay off all my debt.

5. Drink of choice?

Harney and Sons Paris Tea, unsweetened, iced, brewed warm instead of boiling (takes the bitter out).

6. Hair routine?

Oh god. Well, I don't wash it enough. When I do, I use a salicylic or glycolic scrub if I need it, which I do about once a month in the summer. Cerave Oil Control shampoo twice, once only on the roots and then all the hair, and then a deep conditioning mask on the ends while I finish my shower so it has time to sit. I usually let it air dry and then oil the ends with whatever oil I have (which I think right now is an Odele?) but lately since I'm working out of the house I've been using the Eva NYC heat protectant, air drying it to about 75% and then using a dryer brush to blow it straight, then I hit the roots with a normal blow dryer. Then oil the ends as usual. All this so that I can throw it into a clip with a center part because it's too damn hot to have waist-length hair down T_T Immediately after it's dry I hit the roots with a tinted dry shampoo, which I'll usually use a couple more times before my next wash day. I also use perfume on my hair. You may be thinking: isn't that bad for your hair? Yes. Please see also: all the oil and shit I'm using to try and undo the damage. Do I learn? No. Does my hair smell good? Yes.

7. Favourite way to travel? Is there another you want to try?

By myself in a car with a good podcast or good road trip music on empty back roads. I'd like to go on one of those river cruises or one of those really fancy rich people trains.

October. Best weather. Halloween. Candy apple and cinnamon stuff in all the stores.

Sunrise when I can manage it; about 2 AM if I can't.

Been doing a lot of hyperpop which is unusual for me. I want a dog... I want a puppy....

13. Something you learned recently?

Very very very few of those kids on the missing children milk cartons were found, but one of them was found when she (couldn't read) was given her own photo off the side of one and told she was famous, and she accidentally left it in a box of Barbies that she left at a neighbor's house while they were babysitting here. The mom of that family found the photo and busted the whole thing open. Crazy!

14. What would you talk about if you could give a TED talk on anything?

Why courtly love and specifically the formative Knight of the Cart that gave us Lancelot is explicitly femdom in nature and a) what it says about a rich medieval woman's ideas about gender roles and power that this is how she deployed her patronage and b) how this element of courtly love is ignored by adaptations that seem oblivious to the undercurrents.

Make your bed.

Don't go to Nashville. Move to Florida. I know it sucks just do it.
