This is exactly what I've been saying. Some people are like "well, I agree with not using grape or unalive, but there's nothing wrong with SA or CSA!" And no. I'm in the printing business. You know how many companies I see whose names would fit those acronyms? And you think people are going to take sexual assault and child sexual abuse discussions seriously with those? For fuck's sake. If it's about shortening the terms in a long post, then you state them in full at the beginning and use the acronyms afterward. There is no excuse to use those acronyms in a single paragraph or less.

i really like this thing where websites will have separate "log in" & "sign up" buttons and if you click "log in" it takes you to a sign-up screen anyway so you have to click "i already have an account" and then it will ask if you want to sign in with your facebook account or with instagram or linkedin or deviantart or whatever, and if you choose "username & password" it asks if you want to put in your username or use your thumbprint, and once you put your username & password it emails you a confirmation code, and once you put in the code it says "do you want to give us your phone number for future sign-ins? do you want to sign up for facial recognition? do you want to give us your bones? give us your fucking bones?

white women in the us have had the right to vote for 106 years. that is such a middling number of generations back. my great-grandmother grew up during the great depression and like. i knew her. she was a person alive in my life. and she was part of the generation of my family that included the first women who grew up with the right to vote. isn't that crazy. i was born with the right to vote and so was my mom and grandma and great grandmother but not anyone else. that's as far back as it goes. 106 years. i'm always thinking about this these days i'm always thinking about how rights are much less entrenched in history than they seem . and this makes me incredibly unforgiving to passive misogyny. NOT funny DIDN'T laugh misogyny impacts every woman alive every day in one thousand ways . i hope that in fifty years or whatever someone asks me if [aspect of misogynistic culture] really used to be true because it sounds so crazy and egregious and would never happen in 207X. my point is i am getting meaner about misogyny and you should too because not only is it an extremely big deal but every feminist norm and right you've grown up with is so incredibly new.
