Somewhere in the Deep Blue Sea

The summer jobs are just normal-people-flavoring for going on missions for resources. The searching for the Twilight Town Mysteries is just a recon job. The struggle matches is like collecting hearts from heartless, but instead of hearts you're trying to collect orbs.

In Japanese, the MoM tells Xehanort that he could refer to himself as "Jack" or "Taro." Obviously, I think that "Jack" could be a blatant reference to Jack from Agito XIII/Type-0, but the two names are also common names of characters in fairytales.

One such fairytale is the story of Urashima Taro. The protagonist, Taro, rescues a turtle on the beach. The turtle brings him to the Dragon Palace under the sea where he meets the princess, Otohime. For his kindness to the turtle, Otohime entertains him for several days and he has a great time. When it's time for him to leave, she gives him a box called the tamate-bako and tells him to never open it. Upon returning to the surface, Taro discovers that he was actually gone for over 100 years, and all of his friends and family are dead. In his grief, he opens the box and rapidly ages into an old man, the box having contained all the time that he spent under the sea.

You may have heard the story in various anime and games. I was just reminded of it while playing FFXIV's Stormblood, where you're tasked with finding the tamate-bako in one questline.

I feel like this pairs well with my theory that Demyx is the young version of the MoM. The box could contain time or his memories - something that would "age" him. If the MoM told Luxu that the box would age whoever opens it, perhaps that's why Luxu reacted with "But why?!"

Дело в том, что в результате строительства водохранилища Биреджик, в 1999 году водами Ефрата был затоплен старый район города – Савашан Кёй. И сейчас, сквозь толщу воды, можно увидеть погребенные дома, строения, деревья, школы и мечеть, чей минарет по сей день выступает из воды на достаточно большую высоту.

Khalfeti is a small town in southeastern Turkey, located on the banks of the legendary and largest river in Western Asia, the Euphrates, it is one of the oldest cities in Turkey. Presumably, it was founded by the Assyrians in the 9th century BC.e. and throughout his life, he was the cradle for many civilizations.

But besides its rich history, Halfeti is known all over the world for its "underwater city" and is a center of attraction for divers from all over the world. The fact is that as a result of the construction of the Biregik reservoir, in 1999, the old district of the city, Savashan Kay, was flooded with the waters of the Euphrates. And now, through the water column, you can see buried houses, buildings, trees, schools and a mosque, whose minaret still protrudes from the water to a sufficiently high height.
