i actually have a lazy eye myself (duane syndrome in my left eye), and the association of having a lazy eye with stupidity in media pisses me off to NO end. so i agree, lazy eyes for fictional characters forever and ever until the sun explodes. especially for no reason, or an animation mistake; too bad, you have a lazy eye now!
a character im very passionate about having a lazy eye is clay puppington from moral orel:

that eyelid!!!!!!!!!! i think the implication is that his eye Does That when he's drunk. but,,,,, you have to already have a lazy eye for tiredness/drunkenness to make it worse, so im banging the gavel: that man has hypertropia !!!!
next up, Raptus from off the grid:
okay so off the grid is about robots, called stikbots, fighting each other during the post apocalypse, so raptus is a bit of a special case when it comes to lazy eyes. @/fandomstuckportal posted the cool headcanon that stikbot eyes work like square camera lenses. once raptus transforms into his ULTIMATE raptus form, his eyes go from normal square stikbot eyes to the angry eyes above. i love the headcanon that he just. CANNOT see while he's in this form. i guess you could call this a robotic form of ptosis? his eyes are in this weird shape that his lenses are having trouble adjusting to, and its impacting his vision.
i also imagine he can't see out of his left eye period, because of that injury. so bro is like, legally blind.
also BONUS POINTS, because technically all stikbots have ptosis. the eyes on their face print are uneven to make them look silly and cute:
this is making me realize that i need to give more characters an Official Lazy Eye Headcanon. most of them exist in "i havent drawn/edited this character with one yet but it would be cutee" purgatory.
