it might be a stretch or i dunno even a basic thing to say buuuutttt i remember when i watched an episode with bloberta's backstory one thing i realized she doesn't really have much screentime or when she is on screen she's kinda not being as important or influential to the plot in a way??? it just reminded me how badly women are treated in religion or christianity in particular in this case and how she was socially pressured to get married just because everybody around her were having their weddings and stuff or how she was being treated and neglected in her social circle because she was the only one without a husband
it just she had chosen clay just for the sake of getting married and kinda forced him in a way to marry her so she would get the social approval
ok well in general women were not getting a good treatment in the show as a whole showing how little importance they have in religious perspective and stuff
even tho i just recently finished watching moral orel i can say for sure it was one of the best pieces of media that i consumed
despite it being what done in 2000s it is still up to date with our society as this hypocrisy in religion is an ongoing issue (coming from someone who's an ex-mormon), and oh man the way orel reminds me so much of myself when i was around his age😭😭
i'm not someone who's easily touched or a type of person to get emotional while watching something but moral orel got me legit crying and sobbing multiple times because of how much it is relatable for someone who used to be religious and grew up in a very religious household sighhhh
