report and block. i'd also appreciate it if you shared this post, bc that blog was JUST created and was already tagging a LOT of people, and i know not everyone has the scam-sensing instinct, even if this might seem obvious to some.

If they ask you to click a link and enter sensitive information, there's a high chance it's a scam. Log into your account via the site's login page (NOT the page the message linked you to), and see if there's a notification in the account that corresponds to their claims.

If they have a mishmash of numbers or letters in their name, like the account screenshotted above, they're not the company's official rep. I've never seen an authorized rep with gibberish in their name, but scammers often have them.

I don't know who needs to hear this but Microsoft 365 went up from about $70 to about $100 this year because they added AI. If you go to cancel before it auto renews, it gives you the option to switch to the about $70 "Personal Classic" 365.
